I’m having the same issue as the following post: https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/12797/snapin-create-fail-ftp_put. Unfortunately it seems the post went cold so I thought I’d take a crack at it.

The error I’m running into is: [Mon Jan 07 16:23:34.610942 2019] [proxy_fcgi:error] [pid 29637] [client 192.168.1.105:35564] AH01071: Got error ‘PHP message: PHP Warning: ftp_put(): Permission denied. in /var/www/html/fog/lib/fog/fogftp.class.php on line 708\n’, referer: http://192.168.1.105/fog/management/index.php?node=snapin&sub=add

I’m very new to linux so all help might need to be dumbed down a bit.
I’m using FOG Version (1.5.5) on Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon. The machine it on an isolated network without network access. It was installed with network access.

    All help is greatly appreciated.

@agray Do you use the User account called fog to login and work on your FOG server?

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

Please support FOG if you like it: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Support_FOG

@Sebastian-Roth Yes, it was automatically added when installing the fog software.

@agray But do you login with that account and use it?

I am asking because this account is NOT meant to be used as a user/admin. FOG itself uses it and if you reset the password you are breaking some of FOGs functionality.

But could also just be a simple permission issue. Please run ls -al /opt/fog/snapins and post output here.

@Sebastian-Roth I just reset the password thinking i needed into it. What’s the default password so I can change it back?

I never use it, I use the admin account that I made the linux install.

            Output:
            “total 12
            drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Jan 7 10:37 .
            drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Jan 7 10:37 …
            drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Jan 7 10:37 ssl”

@agray Not sure what exactly is going on but the permissions on their folder are not like the installer would set them. So I suggest you simply run the installer as root user again. That should fix the permissions as well as set the fog account password back to what it was.

@Sebastian-Roth When I attempt to reinstall it, it fails at backing up database.
I have it on a network currently for the download.

@agray In the directory where you run the installfog.sh script there should be a subdir called error_logs with two files in it post the contents of those here.

@Sebastian-Roth I can give you the install log but the error is to large for me to put it in a code box and the upload function doesn’t seem to be working, so I made a paste here: https://pastebin.com/UqpnpwQR.

@agray The error log states that it is unable to send a request to the webserver:

                      --2019-01-09 09:35:45-- http://192.168.1.105//fog//maintenance/backup_db.php
Connecting to 192.168.1.105:80... failed: Connection refused.

Is 192.168.1.105 your FOG server IP? Can you open that link in the browser from your client? http://192.168.1.105//fog//maintenance/backup_db.php

From the logs it looks like the webserver (apache2) and PHP-FPM are started properly. Please take a look at the log files mentioned in my signature and post here.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

Please support FOG if you like it: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Support_FOG

@Sebastian-Roth The ip 192.168.1.105 it the address it will be on after installed. The address it’s on while connected to the internet is 192.168.105.238
The end goal is to have the server on an isolated network without being able to to see the outside world, I was following the instructions here, https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/FOG_on_an_Isolated_Network.

That being said, I know to install fog, it is required to have internet access so I put it on our main network, where it can see the outside world. After it’s downloaded, I will be removing it from our network and back to it’s isolated one.

The reasoning for this is our network is 100% static. In the past we have tried putting DHCP in small spots for various reasons and it messed up some of our copiers/printers since they can have multiple IPs.

Since fog requires DHCP we bought a router and just set it on a closed network (the isolated network) with 4 outputs, 1 being the server, no inputs.

@Sebastian-Roth To answer your question(s), with the the previous given information, I won’t be able to access http://192.168.1.105//fog//maintenance/backup_db.php without swapping to the other router.

The ip 192.168.1.105 it the address it will be on after installed. The address it’s on while connected to the internet is 192.168.105.238

Ahhh, now I got this. Sorry I didn’t when you mentioned that between the lines in your earlier posts. So you are switching between two different networks (just for the installation part). So did you use one of our helper scripts when you initially switched from your internet subnet to the isolated network? You need to properly switch back your whole FOG server to the internet subnet IP before you can re-run the installer. I should have thought of this earlier.

Maybe it would have been all easier if I’d just tried to help you manually fix the permissions. But on the other hand I am wondering what else is messed up and so re-running the installer is still a good idea to get this all fixed up.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

@Sebastian-Roth No problem, I tend to ramble a lot and it can get lost is all the junk.

Yes I am. I was unaware there where helper scripts.
The forum I was using as a tutorial said to put in the ip for the final network, that might be what messed everything up. Is there a better tutorial out there? If not, could you walk me through the process of getting this set up properly?
The server is on subnet where it can see the internet, allowing us to update/install.

Would have been easier but this way whatever I messed up previously can be fixed. I appreciate all your help!

@Sebastian-Roth So i will need to reinstall according to the network with internet, swap it to the one without and run the script?

@Sebastian-Roth Actually, before I go any further, is it required for fog to see the internet after install?

@agray Best to use the script (see the linked forum post on instructions) to change back your FOG IP to the one you have in the internet network (192.168.105.238). Then re-run the installer - hopefully running through. Now move your server back to the other network and again change its IP (now to 192.168.1.105) using the same script again.

No need for internet after the install. But if you ever need to re-run the installer… same procedure again.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)
