Windows 10 OS build updates
-
I’m curious to know what you are doing to keep your computers updated with the new Windows 10 OS build updates as they come out. I believe with SCCM there are ways to update the computers without re-imaging them but how are you all doing this with FOG?
-
- Deploying the Win10 OS feature updates using WSUS
- Use MDT to build new reference images for each new OS release to get a consistent and reliable reference image each time, then capture with FOG.
One thing you have to keep in mind is that SCCM is file level imaging, where FOG is block level imaging. The difference in the end comes down to speed. An SCCM image build will take an hour to 1.5 hours for a typical Win10 build. Where a FOG cloned computer can go from bare metal to ready for the user in about 10 minutes if you us a fat image. Both process have their advantages. If you need to push an image out to a large number of computers, fast then FOG wins hands down.

Noted. This makes sense.
