What version of FOG are you running?

?? There was a patch applied in 1.5.2 (I think) that addressed an issue similar to this.

@amerhbb Is there a possibility that you can update to 1.5.3? I’m pretty sure that 1.5.0 did not have the patch applied.

@george1421 Ok if I update FOG I will lose my images ???
And for updating FOG I just need to launch the installer file FOG 1.5.3?
I have never updated FOG before!

            Thanks!

@amerhbb did you install FOG using the git repo?

Did you use steps like this:

              sudo -i
              cd /root
              git clone https://github.com/FOGProject/fogproject.git
              cd fogproject/bin
              ./installfog.sh

No you will not lose anything. Updating fog only updates the fog backend code.

@george1421 No I download the file “fogproject-1.5.0.tar.gz” and after that I installed FOG on Ubuntu 16.04 using the command ./installfog.sh
Can I do the same thing to update FOG???

@amerhbb You can go the tarball route or start with git.

Ideally I would use the git method outlined here: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Getting_FOG

Then when fog 1.5.4 is released all you need to do is a git pull and then reinstall fog using the installfog.sh script again. Its about the same amount of effort the first time, but updates comes easier.

@amerhbb You can update using the git method. No need to install, its just the process to get the update files. Once you have them the update process is the same, just rerun the fog installer.

@george1421 Ok thanks very much 🙂
so I will follow this steps :
                        1-install git
                        2-getting FOG
                        3-Using the desired FOG branch
                        4 -Running installer
And this steps don’t change my images or my hosts???
Sorry I ask alot of questions!

                        thanks!

Correct. Your images are stored in /images directory. The fog application is installed in /opt/fog and /var/www/html/fog.
