@Bigredcherokee Ok, settings look right on first sight. I really wonder why we see the empty Host string in the error output! As well I noticed the banner “Rebranding” in the screenshot. Possibly you are using a modified version of FOG? When was this server installed? Did you install it? Modifications?

@sebastian-roth Its a default fog install. Just installed it about 7 months ago. We had to upgrade the hardware and I restored the database and uploaded my host. I just finished upgrading to Ubuntu 17.10 last night hoping this would help but it didn’t.

@Bigredcherokee Hope you don’t mind all the questions. I just try to get the picture. So you’re saying the issue started when you moved a working installation (FOG DB and images) to the new server? So you did a full mysql dump and restored that on the new system?

@sebastian-roth Sebastian no worries on the questions. Actually I just found the issue. We are working on a Windows 10 deployment and they are having problems PXE Booting the new Dell workstations. So to fix the issue I was going to update the PXE kernel. Server been working fine. Think a reinstall would help?

What do you mean by that??
From the other things you say I have a feeling that you mix up the wording. The kernel update in the FOG web UI does update the FOS Linux kernel. This is not the iPXE binary (I wouldn’t call this a kernel).

@sebastian-roth Its under main menu Kernel update. Also note after updating to 17.10 Ubuntu I just ran the fog installer again and no change.

Yeah, but this has nothing to do with (i)PXE! Sorry, I just don’t get what you said about PXE booting Dell workstation issues and what it has to do with updateing the Linux kernel over the FOG web UI.

@sebastian-roth We have new workstations that will not boot from fog PXE correctly; so I was reading about the Kernel under Fog Configurations --> main --> kernel and it states “This section allows you to update the Linux kernel which is used to boot the client computers. In FOG, this kernel holds all the drivers for the client computer, so if you are unable to boot a client you may wish to update to a newer kernel which may have more drivers built in.”
With all due respect I’m not trying to be an a**, but just need to figure out why it will not download the latest one.
From my last image upload it’s now showing “Unable to contact server” before it was giving that error I originally posted.

Well the tech that was trying to image a machine ran me down a rabbit trail. He didn’t have the computer on the correct network. However I’m still having a problem downloading new kernel bzimage.

Been there, done that. This is totally off topic - but I would recommend publishing a topology map for your technicians - IP ranges of subnets, gateway addresses, port -> subnet mappings, and any other ‘tribal’ information. A little knowledge-share upfront goes a really long way towards preventing little problems.

@Sebastian-Roth yes. Still not able to update them. Although I just check and I have the latest. All imaging going fine. Just can’t figure out why I get that ftp error.
I get transfer failed

@Bigredcherokee I have seen people in the past “think” they can use this account for system administration, they install FOG and the installer takes over this account and gives it a new password. The admin then resets the password on the fog account that’s where things usually go sideways. FOG will throw a similar error to what you last posted when this happens.
You will also see a similar error when you try to capture an image. Right at the end of the capture it will fail with an error about unable to update the fog database. That is an indication that the fog service account’s password has changed.
