Drobo NAS Storage Node

I am attempting to create storage node on a NAS and make that the default image storage. Since starting this, I have found that the DROBO can be a little interesting to get setup. Things I had to install on the Drobo to get started:

GIT
SUDO
BASH
OPENSSH

I have all these installed and running and can putty to the unit. I got the FOG install file 1.4.4 on the unit and was able to get the install to run. (This is where I’m stuck.)

I get through all the options in the sh and start the install and this is what I get.

Any Thoughts?

@EAHarvey In debian/ubuntu the command getent is part of the libc-bin package. Not sure about redhat based systems and have no idea why Drobo is missing it. I have to admit that I haven’t found out what Drobo firmware is based on yet. Does it have a package management like dpkg/rpm/…?

Um, I’m a bit confused. Are you trying to install FOG on the Drobo to make a fog master node, or are you just trying to create a storage node. If you are making a storage node then there is a much easier way.

For a fog storage node all you need on the nas is nfs, tftp, ftp (server). If you want to make it a master node that can be done. Just understand the caveat that it won’t be able to replicate the images to other storage nodes you need a real and full install FOG server for that. I have a tutorial for turning a synology NAS into a fog storage node as well as a windows servers. So it is surely possible.

@EAHarvey Understand this is for synology, but you should be able to translate to most other NAS devices.

The last bit is you need to create a storage group and add your FOG server and drobo in that group, then remove the master node setting from fog server and then add master node to the drobo
