The forums isn’t letting me upload images but it hangs right at the pxe boot screen. It does no display any errors so it looks successful but merely comes to a hard stop.

The adaptor I am using is the OEM Dell USB-C to Ethernet that comes with every machine.

      Output below

Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0781:5584 SanDisk Corp.
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 04f3:21d4 Elan Microelectronics Corp.
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 8087:0a2b Intel Corp.
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 1bcf:2b95 Sunplus Innovation Technology Inc.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

@mdisabatino Does it hang at “Initializing devices…”? Maybe upload pictures to an external server and post a link if the forum is having an issue next time.

Do you use undionly.kpxe? Maybe try switching to undionly.kkpxe (note the two ks) for a test. Does it hang as well?

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

Seems to be hanging while loading ipxe…attached is a Google drive link…

          https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8EiGhaPifiYN0ptNVViSjh6RVU/view?usp=sharing

Switched to undionly.kkpxe and still hangs…

@mdisabatino Can you try this ipxe kernel ipxe.kpxe ? Lets see if the full driver package will init on that target computer.

Of course you are running the latest bios on those systems and they are in legacy (bios) mode right?

Where do I make that configuration change? Is it /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/default and change ipxe.krn to undionly.kkpxe? Or is it here in the FoG web management page?

@mdisabatino Well, how did you switch to undionly.kkpxe? By renaming the files in /tftpboot directory? Usually you would change your DHCP configuration. This is /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf if you run the DHCP on your FOG server…

Interesting, I don’t seem to find what USB NIC you have from the lsusb output… Would you mind booting the live cd again without the NIC being attached. When it booted up start a terminal, plugin the USB NIC and then run dmesg | tail and post text/picture here.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

@mdisabatino said in Cant get Dell m5510 to register into FOG:

                    /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/default

whoa there hoss, how did we get to pxelinux? I will tell you if you are using any form of syslinux it will not work with FOG.

Those settings are typically done in dhcp or if you are running a ProxyDHCP then in dnsmasq.

May have just figured it out,

Had to poke the network engineer that help me set this up about a year ago…forgot to mention FOG is not using DHCP but rather our internal infoblox.

My engineer went in a changed the kernel to undionly.kkpxe on the infoblox side and the 5510 was able to boot to the FOG UI.

So thats done for now. Further testing is needed to see if I didnt break anything/still can image my latitudes.
