Moving FOG virtual server to a new server.
-
I am looking for some guidance for moving my Fog server from my current Hyper-V server to a new Hyper-V server.
Are there any pitfalls?
Is Server 2012 better than Server 2008 r2 to migrate to?
-
I’ve migrated from 2012r2 to 2012r2 - works spectacularly. Only thing to be aware of is the MAC will change - so if you have a dhcp reservation, that will need adjusted.
Instead of migrating the whole shabang, you could move just the data - this leaves the old server untouched. Article below:

Does it make a difference if the Hyper - V machine is Linux as far as moving it to a different server? -
@sjensen none at all. I’ve moved a fog vm (linux) from one windows box to another, no problem. It just takes a long time, I had a lot of images.

@Wayne-Workman is there a specific process you used? Did you export the VM?
-
It’s probably best to do a fresh install on the new server and then export the relevant data to it (database, hosts list, snapin list, image list, images, etc) Should give the least issues.

No, I migrated. This is a Hyper-V feature.
