      Server
      • FOG Version: 1.2.0
      • OS: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS
      Client
      • Service Version:
      • OS:
      Description

Planning on switching over to 1.4.2.

How would I install a second instance onto the same machine (we want to have the existing 1.2.0 instance running as a fail over in the event the 1.4.2 set up fails)? The installation instructions doesn’t seem to have any options for multiple instances.

I have already looked at https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Installation#Installation_manuals and https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Migrate_FOG but it doesn’t seem to entail anything on having more than one instance on the same system.

        Hi,

i would not say that is not possible but it’s a way to much work.
Try to install on a different machine if you need old and new twice for a time.

        Regards X23

@jlouie-smart Having two installations of FOG in the same OS is not really possible. Well you could, if you are really keen, setup and configure a second DB, virtual host in apache and all the rest by hand. But it’s just a huge mess and causes problems I am sure. But you should be able to spin up a VM on your old FOG server, install OS and then FOG there. But be careful were you setup DHCP as having two will cause conflicts and issues that are very hard to find.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

Please support FOG if you like it: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Support_FOG

@jlouie.smart that’s too difficult and not supported and I will not help you with it. Just migrate the data and images to a new box, leaving the old box untouched. When done, shutdown the old box. https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Migrate_FOG

Please help us build the FOG community with everyone involved. It's not just about coding - way more we need people to test things, update documentation and most importantly work on uniting the community of people enjoying and working on FOG!
