    Server
    • FOG Version: 1.4.0-RC-4
    • OS: Centos 7
    Client
    • Service Version: N/A
    • OS: N/A
    Description

After loading the kernel and init file, for example for registering host or capturing image, it contacts the DHCP server and gets an IP.

It does this 3 times, each with the same result of course and then proclaims it didn’t get an IP.

Waiting for about a minute or so allows you press enter and continue. (successfully starting registration, capture, etc)

I tried some different kernels and iPXE boot files, but it didn’t seem to help at all.

It’s not a critical bug, of course, but it is weird and slows things down because you have to wait for the enter to continue to appear.

    EDIT:

Picture so it’s a bit easier to understand:

@Quazz said in No DHCP response on eth0:

I have see 2 recent posts that have the same issue. It looks like its getting the ip address in FOS, it tries 3 times and then proclaims it can’t get an IP address, but the in-line messages appear that it is working.

FWIW: Once bzImage/init.s are loaded iPXE is no longer used. So the iPXE kernel is no longer used.

<edit> Well I can only find one at this point: https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/9890/dhcp-error-with-press-enter-to-continue-in-deploy-capture

Please help us build the FOG community with everyone involved. It's not just about coding - way more we need people to test things, update documentation and most importantly work on uniting the community of people enjoying and working on FOG!

This post seems to solve the issue.
