    • FOG Version: 1.3.0 - RC5

    Description

    I’m trying to image an Acer Aspire 5517 laptop. When I try to network boot, this is what is happening. Any ideas?

      You may need to try a dumb switch between the system and the switch you’re connected to.
      This really feels like the down/up time of the nic is not long enough for the switch to respond.

      This, possibly, could be helped with the ‘ipxe10secdelay’ files.

      Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

          @PageTown What was the issue?

          The 10 second delay? or you put a dummy switch in?

            @Tom-Elliott Sorry, I added a dummy switch. Worked like a charm!

              @PageTown Since adding an unmanaged switch fixed (masked) your issue. You need to talk to your infrastructure (networking) team. Have them confirm if spanning tree is enabled on the switch port in question. If it is, they need to configure the port using one of the fast spanning tree protocols like (fastSTP, RSTP, MSTP, or what ever your building switch vendor calls it). The issue is with standard spanning tree, it take 27 seconds before the port starts to forward data after the link goes up. The link will transition 3 times during a typical FOG PXE boot. With standard spanning tree enabled, by the time the port starts forwarding data FOG has already given up trying to pxe boot the computer.

                @george1421 Thanks for the info, I’ll look into that. Our network is quite small and I’ve fogged dozens of machines here. This was the first time I’ve ever encountered this issue.
