HP 3115M has fuzzy screen. FOG is working but can't see what's going on
-
Hello,
Having a display problem specifically related to the HP 3115M model laptop. I have Fog .32 running on UBUNTU 10.04 LTS as a virtual machine. The FOG server is running fine. Currently imaging 4 HP1103 netbooks with no problems. Can actually upload the HP 3115M image to FOG and also deploy the HP 3115M image fine. Just can’t see what’s going on due to fuzzy screen. I think it may be something related to a generic Linux driver not being available on the FOG server. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue are appreciated. Also, If anyone is interested in my virtual machine I can make available. Thanks.

I believe this has to do with the A50M chipset and the Radeon HD 6XXX series graphics chipsets. You can compile a custom kernel enabling better radeon support, or just try different kernels available via Fog kernel updates.

Thanks. Is there an easy way to find out which kernel has the best radeon support? I wouldn’t know where to start on compiling a custom kernel.

Go to the sourceforge page for fog and go through the downloads. There should be kernels listed there. Start testing out the most recent kernel and move your way backwards through them. Without access to their configs, I can’t tell which supports what hardware other than trial and error.

Thanks. I’ll give that a try.
