So basically I want to create a external drive that a client could plug into the machine. Boot to it and it would deploy a FOG image. For example, lets say I have a client on a Vessel and they have messed up the system beyond repair. Anything could have happend. I want them to be able to plug in this drive, reboot the machine and boot to it, and it re-image the machine with the original image. Is this something that FOG can do?

      Thanks in advance!!

Probably - but not without a mega-ton of re-coding. Fog is focused completely around utilizing a network to accomplish imaging.

Conezilla is better suited for what you’re wanting - it already can do imaging from a local flash drive.

One thing you might could try. I know in the past I’ve used a bootable usb that helped to boot into FOG. I am not sure if it would allow you to automate some of the things you were wanting to do to bypass that or not.

            GPXE Bootable USB

Just kinda throwing that out there.

I agree here, you would be better served by tweaking the clonezilla code to make it a bit more automated and friendly by a nice menu program and to make it use the usb stick directly as a stroage device. In this situation you would only want a deploy option for out in the field.
