    I am having trouble installing a FOG storage node on Fedora (I have tired 23 workstation and 24 server). The master node is running 1.3.0-RC-8 which is the same version I am trying to install for the storage node. During the install I receive this message:

    • Stopping web service…Failed!

    I verified firewall and SELinux services are disabled.

      Hi, please check the error log in bin/error_logs

      Look for the most recent version log (will have RC8 in it) and upload/post it here please.

          @Quazz I tried
          dnf install http://rpms.remirepo.net/fedora/remi-release-23.rpm
          But the install still fails in the same spot.

            @mclapper68 Are you currently on Fedora 23 or 24?

                @mclapper68 You need to install the correct rpm for your version. For your version it’s probably http://rpms.remirepo.net/fedora/remi-release-24.rpm

                Fedora 24 wiki article

                I’m not overly familiar with Fedora, but I think the complete error log might be more useful.

                What happens if you do a simple dnf update -y ?

                  @Quazz Sorry my mistake that is the what I have installed.
                  dnf install http://rpms.remirepo.net/fedora/remi-release-24.rpm
                  Last metadata expiration check: 2:18:38 ago on Wed Aug 17 06:50:56 2016.
                  Package remi-release-24-2.fc24.remi.noarch is already installed, skipping.
                  Dependencies resolved.
                  Nothing to do.
                  Complete!

                  I already did dnf update -y. There is no new updates. I will post my complete error log in a separate reply. Thank you for your help.

                      @Quazz Here the foginstall.log after I tried installing apache, php and mariadb manually.

                         Version: 1.3.0-RC-8 Installer/Updater

                        What version of Linux would you like to run the installation for?

                                1) Redhat Based Linux (Redhat, CentOS, Mageia)
                                2) Debian Based Linux (Debian, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Edubuntu)
                                3) Arch Linux

                        Choice: [1]

                        Starting Redhat based Installation

                        FOG Server installation modes:
                            * Normal Server: (Choice N)
                                This is the typical installation type and
                                will install all FOG components for you on this
                                machine. Pick this option if you are unsure what to pick.

                            * Storage Node: (Choice S)
                                This install mode will only install the software required
                                to make this server act as a node in a storage group

                        @mclapper68 Try to uninstall the remi repo, and then re-install it.

                              That’s interesting… apache2 is a Ubuntu/Debian service… in RHEL land, it’s httpd.

                                I am going to do another fresh install of Fedora 24 Server and run the
                                dnf --enablerepo=remi --enablerepo=remi-php70 install php-fpm php-common
                                command then try to do another install of the fog storage node. I will let you know how it goes.

                                Thank you.

                                  @mclapper68 If you are going to do another fresh OS install why don’t you just use centos 7, then there is no monkeying around. It just installs. Or use ubuntu 14.04 either will install clean.

                                    We have solid tutorials in the wiki for Fedora and CentOS 7.

                                    If you’re not Linux savvy - go with CentOS 7. If you are going to run the server for years and years and years, go with CentOS 7.

                                    Most of our sites at work are using CentOS 7 - with me being the exception. I use Fedora Server at work and home lol.

                                    And I’d recommend Debian over Ubuntu. Debian is more stable - and the developers don’t make radical changes every release. Since Debian is up-stream from Ubuntu, that alone should be reason enough to use Debian instead of Ubuntu. Plus, Debian is regarded by many to be the “most free” of all Linux distributions.

                                        All that time wasted with Fedora. CentOS 7 works super smooth no errors no problems. Thank you to everybody. I think Fog should put CentOS as there preferred OS just my humble opinion.
