Fog settings not saving
-
HI,
I am trying to change the default boot device and timeout value for PXE boot, but the settings keep reverting to the current and changes are not applied. Computers are all defaulting to MEM test and timeout value is 3 seconds. Menu says it is updating, but it isn’t.
Thanks for any advice
Tony

Which version of FOG do you have? See in the blue cloud on the web interface.
Do you see any errors in your apache error log file while trying to save settings? See here to find out where to find this log file on your system: http://www.codeasite.com/index.php/linux-a-apache/94-how-do-i-find-apache-http-server-log-files
Is your Mysql up and running, see here for issues on ubuntu: https://github.com/fogproject/fogproject/issues/1
By the way: Which server OS are you on? Is this your first try with FOG or have you been using it for a while and what did you do before things started to go wrong?

Hi Sebastian, thanks for the reply.
I am running FOG 1.2.0 (5082) on UBUNTU 14.04 LTS. I’m new to FOG & Linux, from a Windows background and previously used Altiris for imaging WIndows machines. I am able to upload and download images successfully with FOG, it is just the settings which are the problem at the moment. 5082 is only a good week old but there have been issues with mysql and lots of fixes! Please update to the very latest and see if this is fixing it for you.
-
Yeah, I’m pretty sure this is fixed.
-
@Tom-Elliott Thanks Tom, I downloaded the latest FOG software from Sourceforge and tried to install. It terminated with “Setting up and starting MySql - Failed” Fog still works and reports version 5082. I’m at a loss with this. Should I start from scratch and re-build Ubuntu ?
-
@Tonyflan I had that same error on Friday… it was with CentOS 7 though.
-
@Tonyflan Please try to restart mysql by hand and see what error you get
service mysql restart
… let us know if and what error you see. -
This is interesting that even after failing to do anything he version just doesn’t change. That said do don’t think the installer has updated anything until after it gets the db backup. So if it’s failing there, it’s likely to be related directly to the file system, or MySQL, or MySQL credentials.

@Tom-Elliott Have re-installed everything from scratch, it is now working, settings saving as expected
Thankyou all for your help.Tony
