I updated to SVN 3369 this morning and then tried to upload a new image. The PC boots into fog and looks like it is going to start uploading the image but does nothing after /init.xz… ok
I have tried deleting the task and recreating but the system does the same thing

Try a different kernel…

Maybe 3.19.3 x86_x64

Tom suggests that it’s Not the kernel, and is most likely gpt fragments

Little help, how would I go about trying the kernel you suggested?

Just saw your second post I am going to try uploading with a different machine and downloading as well to see if there are issues with anything else

What is a GPT fragment?
Tom: Meaning disk is setup for mbr but had gpt on it
Windows tried changing it to mbr but doesn’t properly remove the gpt data stuff
So it confuses itself trying to upload because it doesn’t know where to start

You’d change that in FOG Configuration -> Kernel Update

Client is a Windows 7 machine, tried an upload from a machine with the same hardware without issue so it does appear to be an issue with the specific machine. Is there a log for me to look at or a way for me to correct the suggestion that this is a GPT error.

I am aware of the difference between the two, I don’t believe that is the issue however. Same machine wont download image either, swapped out the HDD still wont download?

Do you have UEFI turned on for that machine? It’s a firmware setting.

can either operate in BIOS mode or UEFI mode.

Then, does the machine you took the image from have UEFI turned on?

Maybe even try switching the network ports that these two machines are connected to… see if that makes a difference. If it does, it’s network related…

Maybe try to delete this host from the DB altogether and then re-register and try again.

Why do you need to image this machine?? Weird unexplained problems?

Lastly, Maybe it has failing hardware… NIC, or Motherboard, maybe even Power Supply… Try to re-seat the RAM, the Video Card?? Test the power supply?

try to put a network card in it to see if there is a difference?

The machine is going to function as my backup mail server. I wanted to take an image of it as a backup. I will check the hardware to see if it makes any difference.
