Hi there,

Been reading through many threads but not having much joy. Ive installed a fresh install of working FOG and can boot over the network no problem.

Ive gone into the TFTP folder, created a new folder under fog of the iso i want, placed the memdisk into it but nothing. Ive checked the default config file but this is blank. Whatever i place in here makes no difference. Ive check spelling and case sensitivity but no luck.

Odd thing is the default menu still loads, has the MEMTEST working also. Now I’ve searched for the MEMTEST and found this under /var/www directories and placed the ISO into there also and still nothing.

Help?! 🙂

I’m confused by what you’re trying to do.

What version of FOG are you running?

What “default config file” are you using for the boot menu?

From the sounds of it, you’re running a form of 1.x.x with which the Advanced Menu system may be of help.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

Hi Tom,

Thanks for coming back to me. To help answer the questions as best as possible.

We are trying to create bootable ISO images like Hirens and other diagnostic tools
FOG Version: 1.2.0
It says the default config file needs to be edited in the wiki if not mistaken - tftpboot/fog/pxelinux.cfg/default - this is the only default menu that i am aware of for editing and adding extra menus and items from what i could understand reading through the wiki.

Thank you.

Mark,

FOG 1.2.0 does not even have a folder named /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/

So how you even got there is beyond me.

Also, if you search the forums there’s a plethora of information on how to add the advanced menu. Simply checking a box does not do it, you have to add the entries you want which can be done right from the GUI.

Hi Tom,

OK now I’m a little lost, followed the installation and straight forward. Not sure where that TFTP folder comes from then?! Where does the MEM Test ISO reside / appear in the menu then?

I followed the Wiki after FOG was installed on the below link…

http://www.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Include_any_ISO_in_the_FOG_Bootmenu

Should i be running an older version then would you recommend to achieve what i need?

Thanks

That entry from the wiki is deprecated for that fog version. Take a look here

Mark I’m glad that you got it working but all we were trying to tell you is the way you do it is different in one not two not that you had to revert to an older version

That’s quite the menu! Thank you for sharing!

Did you need to do anything special for any of those to gt them going?

Most work perfect, The IBM server guide & Linux menu are a work in progress still, just haven’t had the time… but suspect memdisk wont work for them & need to take the live cd route.

To further clarify, where did you put the ISO files?

Hi Tom.
I’m very new here, so please be patient with me. Like Mark Clark I want to add a custom ISO to the main boot menu and I can’t find any tutorial or explanations abot how to do that in FOG 1.2.0. Where to deposit the custom ISO, what to add to the boot menu. If you can be so kind to make an example for a iso file, or point me in the right direction. I have searched google for 2 days and I found such explanations only for old FOG versions. Thanks in advance. PS: Can be applied instructions from https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Include_any_ISO_in_the_FOG_Bootmenu but with what difference for FOG versions above 1.2.0?

@xfirero There was one example in there that applied to 1.2.0. I just added another, if you want to take a look. https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Include_any_ISO_in_the_FOG_Bootmenu
