Hello all,
I have created a VirtualBox VDI of Ubuntu 14 Server, with FOG already installed. This can be downloaded and run using Oracle’s free VirtualBox software. The setup uses DNSMasq, and a chain loaded PXE Boot menu with custom PXE Boot options (in this case, you can PXE Boot Puppy LINUX for data recovery). I also did a quick write up (with screenshots!) of how to go about changing the IP address of the server, and in the FOG software. It could be used as a production VM, or someone could dig around and see how everything is configured… It’s probably not perfect, but this is the setup that works great for my environment (and should work for most other environments, too).
If anyone is interested in the download link, please PM me and I will share. I hope this proves useful to someone out there!
THANK YOU to the FOG developers for your hard work on a great project!!!
I am super interested in this. can I please have a download? Can I run this on its own server other than a virtual box?

I guess that either this person is not willing or able to give the link. I tried several attempts to let Fog update but without success. Any comment i got on fora was actually my own fault, not knowing enough of ubuntu or Linux anyhow. I am too old to learn that backwards OS, so do not be mad if i say so, i have a lot of Novell degrees on my name, but even Novell was written in a language far beyond my use and eventually they made Virtual and graphic support. I hope to live to see the day that Linux makes their OS broader, even the server part where fog is easier to implement. I envy those who handle Linux so easy.
Fog is a perfect program, but there is too little solutions and too much problems. But hey, it could be all my fault… -
Hello Everyone,
Thanks for the continued interest in the FOG VM. It is still available to share.
When I say in my original post that “If anyone is interested in the download link, please PM me and I will share”, it means that unless you PM me, I won’t see the request… Especially on a thread this old. Everyone who has PM’d me to date has received the download instructions. If you are still interested in downloading the VM, PM ME.
And please, for the sake of your sanity, READ everything. If you missed my instructions to PM, chances are that if FOG isn’t working for you, it’s probably telling you exactly why… Read your logs!!
That being said, I love to help with FOG issues (as much as I can, I’m not a developer or expert or anything). If you need help, reach out! This forum is also a gold mine for FOG help…
Take care, and stay safe everyone.
