Hey guys,
I have been going nuts with my co-worker over this. Long story short, we are trying to image a brand new Dell Inspiron 15R with Windows 8.1 on it. It comes with 5 partitions from Dell.

I finally found a kernel that allowed me to upload an image with the partitions being recognized as NTFS. That kernel is 3.14.0.TomElliott. I found it on the Fog SourceForge site I believe.

Before, Fog was reading them all as raw. So, I got the image uploaded fine this morning. Note: we do not sysprep and never have with our Win 7 machines either. Now, I am trying to deploy to the same model machine, exact same specs, (we have 40 of them). It gets through the first 2 partitions, the System Reserved and the ESP, and then says task completed, rebooting. It never gets to the rest of the partitions. I have also made sure to select the new kernel for the deployment. I am completely stumped on this. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

.32 does not officially support windows 8.

IF you can, set up a 33b server, it’s stable and nearing official release. It will handle windows 8 without problem.

If you feel daring here are the upgrade instructions but i STRONGLY recommend a fresh install of 33b.

I actually just did upgrade yesterday, but now, the machine will not recognize a task from the server. It boots to pxe but it won’t load into the deployment environment. It bypasses completely so quickly that I can’t see what is going on. It just goes right to the pxe menu.

Alright well I opted for a fresh install. I am now running 13.04, with Fog 0.33b (rc1). Everything seems to be up and running fine. I followed the wiki and updated the settings after install. Now I get a TFTP error File not Found.

did you change your option 66 & 67 on your DHCP server?

…and disable your fire wall on the Ubuntu machine?

We are running a RHEL DHCP server.
Also, just disabled firewall, and still nothing.

Well almost, now I can get the client to upload, but it is reading the partitions as Raw. I have the image set to Multiple Partition Image Single Disk Not Resizeable. Also I am using the 3.14.0.TomElliott 64 bit kernel. I also tried chaning the image manager to PartImage and PartClone and they both read the partitions as Raw.

Wel that made it worse. I downloaded Tom’s latest kernel and now I get:
ipxe Error: Exec format error Error code 2e0080)

Tom, do you have a list of previous revisions of the kernel? Also, when I go to kernel updates in my server, nothing populates on the list, neither Published Kernels, nor Unofficial Kernels. Any reason for this?

If those pages don’t work then FOG is not seeing an external connection OR something is blocking the traffic to get to Tom’s site.

Does the login page display the FOG site info below the login box?:
