constant 100% CPU Usage
-
Hey folks,
i’ve got a virtualized FOG server here, running in ubuntu 22.04LTS on promox, since a few days it’s sitting constantly at 100% CPU usage. Top says it’s caused by a process called .sysvd and the user is www-data. I dont have any clients connected (the machines are only connected sporadically for reimaging), so i don’t think it’s related to fog clients as some of the other CPU problems described here in the forum.
Has anyone a lead what could cause this problem or what to test next?
Top shows 2400% because it’s a 24-core server.
Thanks a lot!

also please state the FOG version you are using. If its before 1.5.10.41 there were some security issues that were patched.

@PatrickL Are there any other utilities running on your server?
What version of PHP are you using?
Is your FOG Server exposed to the open internet?

Hey Tom and AuthIT,
sorry about the Version. It’s 1.5.10. PHP is 8.1.2-1ubuntu2.18.
Buuut thanks for asking @Tom-Elliott , just found an old firewall rule exposing HTTP to the internet for the fog server. Guess i’ll looking for the bitcoin miner and then and try to sanatize my server.

@PatrickL You might want to review this post: https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/17648/massive-cpu-usage-from-a-service
That
.sysvd
is suspicious and very similar to the thread above.
