Ubuntu LTS upgrade from 20.04 to 22.04 now fog project not available
-
I did an in-place upgrade from 20.04 to 22.04 and now the fog landing page in unavailable and I am uncertain where to start in the trouble shooting.
Any help is appreciated.
thanks,

Just started some research and it seems that the Apache server will not start, I am going to do some checking on that.

Seems like when I did the upgrade there was a change in the libphp version in the mods section.
working to try and get the libphp8.1.so to run instead of the expected version libphp7.4

@thebaz FWIW FOG is not certified yet for Ubuntu 22.04. The issue is with php 8. There are substantial changes needed in the FOG code to support php8. Its recommended that you stay on ubuntu 20.04 until the developers can work out the issues with php8. I know its a pain at the moment but rewriting sections of code take time.

Looks like there is a small change in how the module is called in the php8.x version. looking into the issue

@george1421 Thanks for the information and I will revert back to 20.04.

@thebaz The number of times someone has upgraded the OS of their FOG server and broken FOG is a lot. So many that it prompted me to write this article about five years ago. The article is still valid. My advice is to not upgrade the OS of your FOG server, unless it’s in a VM and you take a snapshot before hand. If it’s not in a VM, your safest choice is to migrate.
