@Raymond-Bell Which version of FOG did you use before and which version are you updating to? As well, which Linux OS and version do you use?

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

Please support FOG if you like it: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Support_FOG

@Raymond-Bell Again, which version you want to update to and which version of Xubuntu?

Please also post the last 10 lines of the installer error log here.

@Raymond-Bell The step “Backing up database” only works when Apache, PHP-FPM and MySQL are up and running fine. Not sure what caused the problem without actually looking at the full installer error log.

You can try running the installer without stopping at errors: ./installfog.sh -X

See if you can make it finish like that. Though 16.04 is really kind of old and I can’t promise you the installer will be still able to handle this.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

I have used BLANK password and i have tried password
I am able to login to mysql with password as the password and backup DB

                   * Stopping FOGImageSize.service Service.......................OK
                   * Setting up and starting MySQL...............................OK
                   * Setting up MySQL user and database..........................
To improve the overall security the installer will create an
unpriviledged database user account for FOG's database access.
Please provide the database *root* user password. Be asured
that this password will only be used while the FOG installer
is running and won't be stored anywhere:

Unable to connect to the database using the given password!
                     Try again:
                     Failed! Terminating installer now.
                  root@Fog-Server-15:/home/fog/Downloads/fog_1.5.9/bin# mysql -u root -p
