Dell Precision 7520 - Disk not recognized
-
Hello,
We have a problem with our new Dell Precision 7520 computers.
Whether we choose UEFI or Legacy, we can not capture the image.
When we choose the “Client System Information (Compatibility)” check, the disk is not recognized.
Our Fog version: 1.5.4, and 4.17 for Kernel. We have the message:
Attempting fixparts…Failed
An error has been detected!
Could not fix partition layout (runfixparts)
Args Passed: /dev/nvme0n1Or with UEFI:
Cannot find disk on system (getHardDisk)
Args Passed: trueThe disk is: PCIe 1.0 PC401 NVMe SK hynix 512GB.
What can we do?
HELP !!!

In uefi mode, make sure the disk configuration in the firmware is in ahci mode not raid-on mode for capture and deploy. You can reset it after imaging.

Many Thanks !
It’s Work !

I am having a similar problem with a Dell OptiPlex 3060. It has a m.2 SSD hard drive. I tried changing from “RAID on” to “AHCI” but that didn’t fix it for me.
I am using FOG version 1.5.4

@jester805 We just got in a Precision 3530 that will only boot to the hard drive if it is plugged in with the network cable. As soon as we unplug it, it will say no drive found… My coworker did these steps:
- (If you can get in windows like we can) run an elevated cmd prompt,
- run this mbr2gpt.exe /convert /allowos
- boot back into the BIOS and set boot back to UEFI
- It should show the drive in there now.
If you cant get in windows I assume you would be able to do this with a restore disk or something similar to runt the command.
**Side note Once imaging is done here for the summer, we are going to look at moving to UEFI images and setting FOG to handle both using THIS ARTICLE.
