    Hello,

I’m looking for the way to rename my machine windows automatically via fog but how?
Can we create a file with a matching name / address mac that fog would consult to rename the machine?

    Thanks.

@gwendallecoz What version of FOG do you use? Which version of Windows do you have?

FOG does actually rename Windows hosts after deploying an image. Mostly works but maybe there is an issue in your case. As well there is the fog-client software that can be installed on the client before capturing and deploying an image. When the client comes up after a deploy the clients checks the hostname and will rename the client to match the name configured in FOG for this host.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

@gwendallecoz Please add a little bit of detail around your question.

          1. Do we understand you have already deploy 20 systems (just a number to show scale of problem) and now you want to go back and change the name on the 20 systems that already have been deployed?
          2. You want to name/rename computers as FOG deploys them?
          3. Do you have the fog client software installed on these 20 computers?
          4. How many computers do you want to rename?

As @Sebastian-Roth said, FOG already does this. You have to register your computers for this functionality to work. You can individually register machines as you image them, or you can upload a CSV file via the Import Hosts feature in Host Management. If you want to see the syntax of the CSV that is required, do a full registration of one of your hosts via the boot menu and then do a host export inside Host Management. Either way - a host must be registered with the FOG server in order for the FOG Server to use 95% of it’s functionality.

Is this thread asking if FOG can automatically assign a name to a host? Yes. It’s call quick registration auto population.
