@moses said in Per-group timezone settings via FOG client:

It would be nice if we could set the client’s time zone on a per-group or even per-client basis.

You don’t have a server on your network that’s working as ntp source on each of your sites?

    • RE: Dorked Snapin Pack Argument & Can't Delete Snapin On v1.5.0 RC-9

      Hi,

why not update to working branch? Like tom said the problem should be solved then.
If you normally don’t want to stick with working-branch you can wait for the next RC release and switch then back to dev-branch while you used working-branch in the meantime.

    • RE: FOG Client 0.11.12 Released

@jeffrey-boulais we have seen occurances of this in the past where we had race conditions while starting the service, could you please try to set the service from auto to delayed-auto? will this work? Which version of windows are you using?

How do you deal with the fog client? You need to disable the service before you create the image and you have to enable it again while deploying (setupcomplete.cmd).

    • RE: Windows (Powershell) / Username=Computername

      Batch!:

      net user /add USERNAME PASSWORD
      net localgroup GROUPNAME USERNAME /add

      @avaryan said in Windows (Powershell) / Username=Computername:

      $Password = “password” | ConvertTo-SecureString -AsPlainText -Force

It does not make sense to encrypt the password within the same script. 😄
You need to use the encrypted string and don’t encrypt it within the same script 🙂

@Tywyn like @Avaryan said why not use unattend.xml to create local users?

I would like to understand what is the cause here, the guy is using bluetooth device in different cars with his computers? And the macs you see are from the cars?

    • RE: Computer getting 4 new mac address daily

      Hi,

remember when i had my problem @tom-elliott had rumors about bluetooth devices that do things like that.
Is there a BT device in that system? Can you try to disable it and have a look if you still get macs?

Any special software that’s handling virtual network devices?

I hardly recommend you to read the whole thread here:
      https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/10209/about-50-pending-macs-for-one-host-beware-of-windows-10-random-mac-feature-for-wlan?page=1

For me it was the wifi mac stuff but we talked about possible other causes, please confirm that you read all.

      Hi,

@Wayne-Workman this was a suggestion right? “Only install” isn’t actually available.
If so good idea and “Only install” should be default. @tom-elliott

    • Snapin definition (reboot, shutdown) add option "only install" when keeping radio buttons

      Hi,

      i am on RC9 working 49 (6079)

i was a little confused while adding new snapins, by default reboot after snapin install is checked.
Radio buttons are used for this but i think checkbox would be the right element since i can disable the radio button.

      Bild Text

      Bild Text

In normal radio is used when an option can be changed but not fully switched off. Since i can say i wouldn’t wether reboot or shutdown idk what would be the best here.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_button

It is possible that initially none of the radio buttons in a group are selected. This unselected state cannot be restored by interacting with the radio button widget, though it may be possible through other user interface elements. When used in an HTML form, if no button in a group is checked, then no name-value pair is passed when the form is submitted.

Normally i would not expect that i can disable a radio button. Maybe it would be the best to turn of defaulting to reboot.

    • RE: Windows Keys Plugin and Hosts Product Key Field Coexistence, who wins?

@tom-elliott hmm okay but i am still interested in knowing the bios key while i am using a vl key to activate it. I would loose this information when i activate a key for an image that a host uses where i already collected the bios key.

I would more appreaciate if the vl key would be used for an activation rather then overwriting it but i understand that this will brings a lot more codes changes with it even in the client.

    • RE: Windows Keys Plugin and Hosts Product Key Field Coexistence, who wins?

@tom-elliott i need to bring it to the point. Overwrite means it uses the assigned key by the plugin but doesnt replace the key in the host definition right?

The entered key in the host definition is still there and for the case another image without assigned key is deployed the stored host key is used correct?

    • RE: Load Balancing

@simarpreetsingh holy moly, this is a big request.

      1. by design the client need to talk to the fog server, there is currently no techniqe to cache such communication, you will need a another fog server in the devices network or simply a way to connect to the fog servers network how ever that is realized.

      2. afaik the fog clients don’t communicate to each other, they only talk to their configured fog server instance. (no fancy mesh stuff)

      3. I would not say it’s impossible to create a script that will automatically install and startup another fog server on another device but you still need to do configuration on possible storage nodes or existing fog servers. I don’t think that’s a good idea.

Btw. i am only a user maybe one of the devs should say something to your idea, request and what i said with my 50 cent.
      @tom-elliott @Sebastian-Roth @george1421 @Wayne-Workman @sudburr @joe-schmitt @Psycholiquid

What you are telling about your devices sounds interesting could you please tell us more what exactly you are doing there please? Describe your scenario 🙂

    • RE: Load Balancing

@simarpreetsingh hmm iam still not sure that i understand your request. Let me try, you have devices that cannot directly talk to your fog server because they are out of reach (out of network) and you need a way for that clients to communicate?

If i am wrong please try to explain as precise as possible, just think we are dump and naked 😄 i am sure you hate my signature 😉

    • Current FOG version to Forum Signature plugin

      Hi,

maybe totally weak but is there maybe a chance that we can relate our current fog install to our forum account, for having automatically signature information about the current fog installation we use.

I don’t know how much work needs to be done to have such feature but for troubleshooting it could help a lot.
