RE: Lenovo Yoga 11e
I found threads in the forums from about a year ago concerning the same device:
https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/7045/fog-menu-don-t-boot-windows-chainloading-failed
https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/5402/lenovo-11e-doesn-t-pass-menu-screen-on-ipxe
https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/4994/windows-8-1-uefi-gpt-questionsI found that in the first link, a community member posted the below which is quite interesting.
@thomasdec said in FOG menu don't boot Windows - Chainloading failed:
I found why the .efi file doesn’t work !
The problem come from an boot option.
I disableSecurity Chip
in Security tab in Lenovo BIOS and now it’s work.
I can access FOG menu and image my computer.
Sorry for not finding it sooner !@Sebastian-Roth @george1421 thanks again so much for your help !

Really appreciate all your help - I got quicker support here than most of my paid support contacts!
Why don’t more people point this out ???
I mean really - quite honestly, greater than 90% of people here get a reply in under 10 minutes if they post during sane hours. And not just a “Thank you for posting, we will get with you” reply, but an actual answer or suggestion or advice.
And to imagine, we are volunteer powered.
FOG is something special, let me tell you. People here - seems like - race to answer first. and that’s an amazing thing! It’s the open source mind set. Learn, explore, share, and help others freely and openly. As open source freely flows, so to does information flow freely into and out of the helpers here. It’s a mind set. We don’t hoard information and answers for ourselves. If you ask us, we will give you our best answers, or try damn hard to find the best answers so that not only you can know, but so we can know too!

RE: Realtek NIC fails to load undionly.kpxe?
@cabraln Please try this: Put a simple un-managed switch (a ‘dumb’ switch) between the laptop and the rest of the network and try again.

RE: [ipxe.efi] No menu with Optiplex 3010
@george1421 Will do. I have a mess of things to do in the wiki and I finally have some time this weekend for it.

RE: virtualbox image upload r4792
Wiki has been updated about kernel updating. I made a new article because I couldn’t find anything about it.
Article is here, it is pretty sharp looking

RE: UEFI Surface Pro 3 + Fog 1.2.0 on Ubuntu 14.02
Surface Pros are UEFI devices as you’ve said in your post, which means that
undionly.kpxe
will never work for this device because it’s a BIOS/Legacy boot file. The surface pro will need
ipxe.efi
but the problem is many of your devices still needundionly.kpxe
and it’s silly to swap them back and forth. So, whatever is running DHCP in your environment (I guess the Cisco router) needs to be configured to identify and support multiple Vendor Class Identifiers. We have an article written just for this, right here: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=BIOS_and_UEFI_Co-ExistenceNext, I’d strongly advise you to upgrade to FOG Trunk (article: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Upgrade_to_trunk). While it’s possible to modify 1.2.0 to make it work with the Surface and other devices, I would advise against it. Trunk supports newer device types with newer persistent storage out-of-the-box, and FOG Trunk is very stable right now, in my opinion it’s almost release ready.
Also - if at all possible - I’d like to help with the Cisco DHCP so that I can document the steps in our WiKi, or at the very least, you give us your documentation when you’re done. Good, clear, concise, and accurate Documentation is one of the best ways to give back.

RE: PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (Fog 1.2.0 missing FOG_MEMORY_LIMIT)
1.2.0 doesn’t have that I think. But you can still change it manually.
Edit
php.ini
Searchmemory_limit
in yourphp.ini
, and change the value of it. If there is nomemory_limit
found, add the following line at the end of php.ini
memory_limit = 128M ;
Change the 128M to your needs
Save file and then Restart Apache.

RE: Using a KVM/Libvirt VM as Master Image- Odd pxe boot issues
@mxc It could be something as simple as an IP conflict or a bad patch cable. Check the simple things first.

RE: Fog server offline
I was able to help via Team Viewer.
The FOG server’s IP address changed. The server is probably set to receive DHCP and maybe the reservation was deleted or something - not sure. It had a very weird IP, not one you’d normally set as static or as a reservation.
Also - Connie has fog 0.29 installed on Ubuntu 10.04
The root partition has around 30-40GB of free space now - but it will surely run out of space again.
Images and DB need backed up, and a new server needs built, honestly.

RE: Cannot PXE boot
@jpmtg said in Cannot PXE boot:
Some of the other open source software I use has paid support/configuration and I was curious if that is something that is available for Fog?
No, sir.
FOG is open source, so too is support. Meaning all support is openly conducted on the forums by volunteers in order to benefit everyone.
That said, nothing is stopping anyone from creating a business for supporting fog, because it’s open source anyone can do this. Although I think that if said business is run by anyone other than our current volunteer team, it’d probably suck pretty bad. And I am not interested in contributing to closed-source minded support. Others may feel differently.
We do need more help though. It’d be appreciated if you or anyone could assist others in the forums where you can. This is how I started, and slowly learned more over time. But I’m still light-years behind some of these other guys.

@michaeloberg said in After imaging 20 computers or so, our PXE server stops working:
after that the PXE server stops. I have to restore the FOG server from a backup to fix this, can you help?
We would need to know a lot more about your FOG server setup, like the version of FOG, the version of the OS and distribution name, what’s doing DHCP, and if these hosts are registered or not, how you’re doing the imaging like Unicast or Multicast. Details details details.

RE: Active Directory join fails
@jhuesser The error says invalid security token. Step one is to ensure the time is set, correct, in the same time zone, and syncronized on 1. The fog server, 2. The domain controller(s), and 3. on the hosts you’re trying to join.
After verifying that, you can try to “reset encryption” for the problematic host and see if that fixes it.
Note that simply clicking the “reset encryption” button when time is not synchronized will not fix your issue.
