      @Wayne-Workman Wayne, I tried MAK with fog but it wasn’t activating. Do you assign the key in fog or in the image itself? Same issue with Office. When activated with MAK in image it didn’t activate in deployed image.

    • Fog Imaging

      A quick question - sysprep plus fog - do I need to sysprep and use fog if I am using a KMS to activate Windows and Office and I am joining to AD after imaging? What do I gain by syspreping the machine?

      @Tom-Elliott Nevermind, I’m an idiot. I think I found it. I got it. I forgot to change your place holders. Please consider this issue resolved.

    • RE: Hostname Already Exists

      @Tom-Elliott said in Hostname Already Exists:

      select hostID from hosts where hostname=‘HOSTNAMEOFEXISTINGHOST’;

      I copy / pasted that and I get Empty set as the result.

      Tom, I’m running 14.04.4 LTS Command Line only. I’m sorry, but how do I get to the MySQL part?

    • Hostname Already Exists

      Hello all,

      When searching I found a similar issue from a year or so ago with no clear answer.

      Here is my problem:

      I am trying to add a host to my fog but it keeps saying the host name already exists. When I search my host list, it’s not there. I think I have some kind of corruption or database issue.

      Can anyone help me through this step-by-step as I’m not really a Linux or a MySQL person?

      @Jbob Thanks! I have tested and confirmed it works for me on Win 10 Education!

      @Wayne-Workman Wayne, I tried the github link you posted and got the same errors identically to the first try.

    • RE: Unable to find settings .json

      @Tom-Elliott I checked both Program Files and Program Files (x86) and there is no FOG folder created. The SmartInstaller stops at the error and undoes everything (as far as I can tell) so no folders are created.

    • RE: Unable to find settings .json

      @Tom-Elliott the zazzles file is what is added in the download folder (or I’m assuming wherever you ran the SmartInstaller from). All it gives is the following:
      Settings ERROR: Unable to load settings
      Settings ERROR: Could not find file ‘C:\Users(my username)\Downloads\settings.json’.

      I’m having this issue as well. I don’t have a C:\fog.log file, only the zazzles file.

    • RE: Export and Import Images

      @ITSolutions

      Thanks for the reply.

      I am running Ubuntu on both machines. On the 1.1.0 box I am running Ubuntu 14.04 with a GUI.

      On the trunk box, I am running Ubuntu 14.04 with no GUI.

      I have two separate boxes running the different versions of FOG, so different drives, different everything.

      I would like to keep just the images.

    • Export and Import Images

      2 related questions:

      First, is it possible to export images from my FOG 1.1.0 server to my trunk server, and how do I go about this?

      Second, will the old images even work or am I further ahead recreating them on the new server?

    • RE: 6303, 6333 Fog- Failed to download CA certificate error when trying to install client, only on some pcs

      I just had this issue as well - and it turned out to be my fault.

      In the setup it asks for server and web info.

      I put the IP into both fields.

      I tried just putting the IP into the top server field and leaving the bottom web field alone.

      When I did that, it worked.

    • RE: Windows 10 Black Screen

      @Wayne-Workman Wayne,

      Thanks for the quick reply. I think I have Windows activating ok. My “problem” is Office. It retains the key, but still needs manually activated on the target computer.

      @Tom-Elliott
      Tom,

      I updated fog and found out while I was using two identical laptops, the BIOS versions were different. Once I updated to the same BIOS version, everything works! Now I’m on to activating Windows and Office. Do you have any suggestions or easy steps for this?

      @Tom-Elliott Tom, I would be happy to, but I just got it from SVN this morning. Is there a newer version already?

      How can I check quickly?

    • RE: Windows 10 Black Screen

      Wayne,

      I don’t mean to seem dense, but I don’t think this is related to my issue at all.

      I don’t get any visible error output, I am using Legacy instead of UEFI, I’m not using a USB to Ethernet adapter and I’m not having a PXE issue.

      The process seems to work fine until it tries to boot into Windows. After seeing the Fog screen all I get is a blank black screen.
      No login, no error messages, nothing.

      I have tried also uploading my image as a Windows 10 Multi-Partion Single-Disk (not resizable) which works fine again on the capture, but gives me an error during deployment saying no osid passed.

      I tried this as it has worked in the past.

    • Windows 10 Black Screen

      I have seen this similar issue reported, but haven’t seen a fix.

      I can capture my Windows 10 image just fine, but when I deploy the image, all I get on the target computer is a blank black screen.

      I am running Ubuntu Server 14.04.3 LTS
      Fog Trunk SVN 6211

      Capture PC is Lenovo E555
      Target PC is Lenovo E555

      Please advise.

      I built the image using these settings:
      0_1454704734736_Capture2.PNG
