    • DHCP Lease Failing on 1.5.5 after upgrade - again

      Hi,

I don’t found how make a subject to unsolved again., So I make a new topic.

To summarize I make a upgrade from a 1.4.4 to 1.5.5 and most of time I have a DHCP Lease Failing problem (see screen shot following)

The problem is back again, we make some several test, with only client and fog serveur in the same dumb switch to be sur there is no other DHCP server. We change the switch and cable too, and some time, I don’t know why it’s working.
Some time 3 - 10 times, and after don’t working anymore on HP Prodesk 400 G4 - HP Prodesk 400 G3, old asus tower; acer Travelmate P2, but no problem with Dell actually.

I think about a problem during the upgrade, but I don’t know where to found it yet, I will make a fresh install with a 1.5.5 to check.

      So my screen shot:

    • RE: DHCP Lease Failing on 1.5.5 after upgrade

@Sebastian-Roth Yes it’s true, but the message is the same, so the only difference is the version of udhcpc who is v1.29.2 but I’m agree with your point of view.

@george1421 I don’t know why, but I can’t run FOS all the time I get the reboot message in 1 minute. Did they have other key to press in same time ? Did y have do hold enter key ?

So I don’t understand why, but today it start to work (it make me crazy to don’t understand)… so I will say it’s a mysterious network problem.

      Thank’s for helping.

    • DHCP Lease Failing on 1.5.5 after upgrade

      Hi again.

Today I need to install some HP Prodesk 400 G4 (With a HP Prodesk 400 G3 after a bios upgrade it’s working ans with a Dell Optiplex 3060 it’s working too)

And I have the following problem:

      DHCP Lease Failing

The problem is on both boot mod mod (uefi and legacy) I try to check for a Bios update, and I done it but the problem steal here.

I already try with a old no managed dumb switch.

In my case I make a upgrade from 1.4.4 to 1.5.5 it was working like a charm with the 1.4.4. Now I have this problem with the 1.5.5.

      Any idea ?

    • RE: Unattended ubuntu install from netboot with preseed file

      Hi,

      I found a solution:

      kernel tftp://${fog-ip}/boot/ubuntu/trusty/amd64/linux
      initrd tftp://${fog-ip}/boot/ubuntu/trusty/amd64/initrd.gz
      imgargs linux auto=true console-setup/layoutcode=fr keyboard-configuration/xkb-keyboard=fr locale=fr_FR.UTF-8 hostname=master domain=maestria.fr url=http://${fog-ip}/preseed_path/preseed_name.cfg quiet initrd=initrd.gz root=/dev/nfs netboot=nfs nfsroot=${fog-ip}:/tftpboot/boot/ubuntu/trusty/amd64/
      boot

It’s look to work just need to configure my preseed file correctly.

      Thank’s

    • Unattended ubuntu install from netboot with preseed file

      Hi,
I’m trying to boot on netboot to make a install with preseed file.
I try to follow information in thos page
      https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/10944/using-fog-to-pxe-boot-into-your-favorite-installer-images/
      https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/2596/unattended-debian-iso-install
      https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/7781/custom-iso-centos-6-7-installation-issues/11
      https://wiki.debian-fr.xyz/PXE_avec_support_EFI#AVG_Rescue_CD_GNU.2FLinux

but nothing work when I try to add my preseed.
      My parameters are:

      kernel tftp://${fog-ip}/boot/ubuntu/trusty/amd64/linux
      initrd tftp://${fog-ip}/boot/ubuntu/trusty/amd64/initrd.gz
      imgargs linux initrd=initrd.gz root=/dev/nfs netboot=nfs nfsroot=${fog-ip}:/tftpboot/boot/ubuntu/trusty/amd64/ url=http://${fog-ip}/scripts/install/preseed/preseed.cfg ip=dhcp rw
      boot

It’s booting fine, and I can make a manual install but I don’t see the preseed file after the boot and is not used.

      Any idear ?

    • RE: UEFI - No fog menu

@Quazz True, but I wan’t to see what can be done with UEFI. In the future I will make almost all my deployment by UEFI boot. So I hop it will work find, I see than UEFI is not standardize as Legacy. So it was to understand.

      Hi,

Yes that correct, I juste update the bios today and try. For the number 5, the 3010 reboot alone after few minute on “Initializing devices…”.

I have no problem with a debian uefi boot, it’s fast and working. But I have no fog tools 😢

    • RE: UEFI - No fog menu

      Hi thank’s for your answer.

So I try with ipxe.efi, with two different computer (HP Prodesk 400 G3 and Dell Optiplex 3010) at start I was trying only with the Dell.
I disable secure boot on both.
It’s working on the HP (so thank’s) but on the Dell it’s making the same problem at the start, with a reboot after few minuts.

Any idear for the Dell ?

I try with a Debian howto (https://wiki.debian-fr.xyz/PXE_avec_support_EFI#AVG_Rescue_CD_GNU.2FLinux) and it’s working on both

    • UEFI - No fog menu

      Hi,

I have a fog server on debian stretch, fog version is 1.4.4 for production (I try the same in the last 1.5.2 for test).
I setup a Optiplex 3010 to boot on UEFI, but I have no menu.

In my log file I have: “RRQ from 192.168.0.246 filename ipxe.efi”
      On the computer, I have:

      Succeed to download NBP
      iPXE initialising devices...

so it’s look than the file is downloaded but nothing else.
Actualy I don’t make any custom things to setup UEFI boot on my Fog.

      Any idear ?
