• RE: New Forum Software

I’m not entirely sold on this new software and its interface. I’m finding it cluttered.

My biggest peeve right now is the sorting.

Viewing a forum post with more than a couple of replies is tedious.

Instead of viewing a simple ascending chronological list of post and replies from top to bottom, eg:

A post
b reply
c reply
d reply
pagination (which I’ve turned off for my probile)
e reply
f reply

This new style of:

A post
z reply
y reply
x reply
w reply
pagination
A post
v reply
u reply
t reply
s reply etc…

Forcing the user to the bottom of the last page/post then rescrolling back up through the posts and backwards through the pages (if pagination is turned on) is time consuming. I’m puzzled why this particular wheel was reinvented instead of sticking with the simple ascending chronological.

• Kernel Update via Web Interface vs the Installer

Do the installer and the Kernel Update page in the Fog web interface pull the kernels from the same location?

svn 3385 and 3387 on Ubuntu 14.04.2

The Quick Image option from the boot menu isn’t. It is immediately cycling back to the main menu after selecting any image.

A deployment task still works.

Actually … it looks like the problem may be svn 3373. Reverting to 3.18.5 does not fix the new errors.

• RE: Upgrading svn 2961 to 3125

Heh! You’re going to love this.

Twelve servers later, I check my source document.

I copy and paste my commands into the CLI … I had accidentally highlighted the CR+LF after the last command. So it’s piped into the CLI to appear, invisibly mind you, after the prompt. But it doesn’t actually enter itself at that prompt. So that when I enter “y” then <enter>, it has actually received CR+LF Y <enter> and fails out.

Doh!

• Upgrading svn 2961 to 3125

I do not know if this problem still exists in the latest svn, but when upgrading my svn 2961 servers to 3125, when the 3125 installer is run for the first time:
svn co -r 3125 https://svn.code.sf.net/p/freeghost/code/trunk /opt/trunk
cd /opt/trunk/bin
./installfog.sh
… when I enter y or Y at “Are you sure you wish to continue (Y/N)”, it always fails out the first time with “Sorry, answer not recognized.”

Running the same installer a second time, it accepts y or Y without issue.

bzImage Version: 4.0.0
bzImage32 Version: 4.0.0

Downgrading to Kernel 3.18.5 (x86_64 and x86) then shows:

bzImage Version:
bzImage32 Version: 3.18.5

We use our own DNS to create:

• a uniquely named static Host (A) record for the Fog server’s IP address in the Forward Lookup Zone of the DNS

… then add the following command during configuration of the server post-Fog install:

if [ -f /var/www/html/index.html ]; then mv -u /var/www/html/index.html /var/www/html/index.html.old; fi

From then on it’s just: xyzfog/

• RE: Ubuntu and /etc/rc.local

For the sake of this thread, ignore the contents of /etc/rc.local.

Is there anything in the OS or FOG that would cause /etc/rc.local to be run at any other time other than its expected time at the system start up?
