Check this link for command line options on wuauclt.exe. Never did a commn line check for updates, but I’m sure there is a way.

RE: New Developer
Ditto. There are many of us who love and use this software and need to take the time to express our gratitude for all that the developers put into Fog. Having Fog experience on my resume helped me snag a job offer recently. So, it’s popularity is spreading and employers are seeing it as experience worth having.

RE: Windows UI
I agree. The web UI is pretty feature rich and well thought out.

RE: SATA-related issue?
We’ve used Fog for a few years now and have not seen any issues with SATA drives left in their native mode so I don’t necessarily think it is SATA that is the issue, but something unique to your hardware. Are the affected computers all the same or are you seeing it across several models?

RE: Ipad
We did an iPad deployment last year, reviewed all the options, and one of the commercial MDM providers was the best way to go. In addition to publishing aps and profile settings, you can monitor / manage them from afar. Well worth what little we paid.
-
RE: All new Win 7 images are booting to startup repair
Imaged over 250 desktops with Fog this summer (HP - Win 7 Pro 64bit) without any issues. We skip fogprep but user sysprep with an unattend.xml.

RE: Migration from servers
Clients are easy. Run a host report that exports all the data into a CSV and you may have to tweak it to match the import format, but I did it on a test install and it was very easy.

RE: Fog 33?
re: ‘it will be ready when its ready!’ I wish my project management software had that as an option.

Fog 33?
Let me start by saying that all the developers who donate their time to this project have my eternal gratitude. I also empathize with the fact that you all have jobs you get paid for, etc. But, is there any timeline for the release of 0.33? We need to move FOG to a new VM and if 0.33 is on the horizon, I’ll wait for that. If not, I’ll deploy 0.32 on the new VM and plan an upgrade to 0.33 when it comes out.
Thanks again for all your hard work on this project.

RE: FOG 0.33 - What's coming?
That’s OK. I enjoy a good mystery novel and I will remember it better if I work through it. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

RE: Fogcrypt crashes
Downloaded and unpacked the newest Fog to get Fogcrypt and it works. Thanks to everyone for their helpful suggestions.

RE: Fogcrypt crashes
Idid run the Ninite updater recently and it said all the plugins were up to date. Knowing that, I’ll try it on a fresh build where I know everything is current. Thanks for the tip!

RE: Name changer
Here is the output: *********** But, if you look in the log pasted above there is a password error:
(5/13/2013 12:29 PM FOG::HostnameChanger Domain Error! (‘Wrong Password’ Code: 1323)

RE: Name changer
To answer your questions in order: no, no,no, I tried, but fogcrypt keeps crashing. I do get the output file, but I think the contents are garbage. I do set my unattend not to name the computer and am working to resolve fogcrypt. I’ll toss in the netdom and retest. Thanks for the reply.

RE: Fogcrypt crashes

Fogcrypt crashes
Whenever I try to run Fogcrypt, it crashes with a windows error. The file with the password gets created, but Fog doesn’t like it. I’m on an old fog (0.30) awaiting 0.33. Is the old one known for this? Can I get a newer one?
Thanks,

Name changer
So, we are about to begin a big image process and I’m setting up my test. I did install the Fog service with the intent of using the name changer and AD computer add. On my first test it does not seem to work. i pasted below the the Fog log from the client. Seems the AD joined because I didn’t do a good job of getting the password in. That I can fix. The name changer is huge. FYi, I set my unattend.xml not to name the computer. Is that wrong? Thanks in advance to all who post.

RE: When does Setupcomplete.cmd run?
Great tip! I did set that up this morning. Fog pre-dates me and I think the previous admin got it to work to just image and never explored some of it’s capabilities. Well, I prefer to use things for all they can do and it sounds like the Fog service will be a giant step forward for us.

RE: When does Setupcomplete.cmd run?
Well, we did not have that share but I found it’s location by doing a find on the file system. Thanks!
