+1 for this feature.
It would be very nice to have the option to set PXE menu items on Groups/Hosts.

Okay. solved the host list issue by clearing the tables hosts and hostMAC and then reimporting the csv file.
The PHP error message is gone as well after updating.
Apparently the host list issue is related to a few bad entrys. I Imported a host list file from an older SVN version (which broke the host list after a few minutes) and exported it again after which I deleted all Hosts and reimported them resulting in the following:
Total Rows 37
Successful Host's 28
Failed Host's 9
Errors Row #4: This MAC Belongs to another host
Row #6: This MAC Belongs to another host
Row #7: This MAC Belongs to another host
Row #12: This MAC Belongs to another host
Row #17: This MAC Belongs to another host
Row #20: This MAC Belongs to another host
Row #26: This MAC Belongs to another host
Row #28: This MAC Belongs to another host
Row #29: This MAC Belongs to another host
I’ve attached both csv files. As far as I can see there are no overlapping MACs
host_export.csv
host_export_buefog02.csv
Edit:
After Updating to 5048 importing the SVN host list file results in:
Total Rows 37
Successful Host's 28
Failed Host's 9
Errors Row #4: Host already exists with this name: 100408B
Row #6: Host already exists with this name: 100435B
Row #7: Host already exists with this name: 100453B
Row #12: Host already exists with this name: 100798LC
Row #17: Host already exists with this name: 102173B
Row #20: Host already exists with this name: BUEPACS23
Row #26: Host already exists with this name: buepc119
Row #28: Host already exists with this name: BUEPC372
Row #29: Host already exists with this name: BUETEST
Still weird but at least it doesn’t break it ;D.
Hi,
I moved our FOG installation from Debian to Archlinux and noticed some Problems.
The tftp.service file created by the FOG install script does not work. The default file created by the tftp-hpa package works fine.
Changes made in FOG Configuration->iPXE Boot Menu cannot be saved. However changing the same settings in FOG Configuration->FOG Settings->FOG Boot Settings works as expected.
iPXE Advanced menu is not showing up on clients and adding custom entrys to it via “Menu Show With” doesn’t work either (still won’t show). But maybe I’m doing something wrong since there is no reference on how to work with these settings.
Edit:
Host List Breaks after time x when importing Hosts from file.
Apache error.
AH01071: Got error 'PHP message: PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function socket_strerror() in /srv/http/fog/lib/fog/Host.class.php on line 854\n', referer: http://"IP Removed"/fog/management/index.php?node=host&sub=search```
After having another go at this with the latest svn build, I finally solved the problem. Or at least I hope I did.
I had the same problem as before with the latest svn release. I changed between different .kpxe and .kkpxe files countless times until I tried something I hadn’t done before. I always used symlink’s to switch between .kpxe and .kkpxe files, but instead of doing that I decided to change Option 67 in the DHCP settings for a change. And it worked!
I’ll try a different client later to see if it really is the fix I’ve been looking for.
Edit: Doesn’t seem to solve the Problem. But I found a workaround. Booting any OS (Live CD is enough) and rebooting solves the problem. I guess it has something to do with the NIC not being shut-down correctly by the manufacturer.
I don’t think it’s SSD related. We’ve been using the same SSD’s in the NUC’s with manufacturing data 01/2014 and those work with fog. Only those with manufacturing data 05/2014 are having troubles. Intel switched mainboards, 05/14 only accepts 1.35V RAM while 01/14 accepts 1.5V. The NIC is differnt too, and probably the SATA controller.
Try a different kernel, 3.8.8 or something like that worked. You still won’t be able to image correctly though.
iPXE seems to work fine now. The “Published Kernels” work till 3.6.9. The Unofficial Kernel 3.15.4 dose this:
P.S. All working kernels skip partimage.

BUMP.
Still no progress on this. I’ve tried a few kernel’s but most of them end up in a “kernel panic”.
Here’s the promised snapshot.
I don’t think it’s due to missing USB3.0 drivers as I’ve been including USB3 for quite some time. I have seen funny errors with USB3 ports though and I have yet to be able to fix them. Does the Box have an Non SSB ports that you could put the keyboard or mouse into?
Also,
Is it possible that you get a snapshot of the Client Compatibility?
Only the front USB Port is marked SSB. The two on the back are 2.0 Ports, thats where I’ve plugged in keyboard and mouse.
I’ll make a snapshot of the compatibillity screen when I’m back at the office on monday.
Is this an upload or a download job?
Download. There are a bunch of errors before the Task starts, probably due to missing USB3 port drivers. I’ve attached some pictures.

Okay, I’ve come a little further now. It seems that there is a difference between booting the lan devices and doing a network boot via F12, weird but hey its working.
But now I can’t image the PC, it just skips the partclone part and say’s “Done…Updating Database”.
Hi,
all new Intel NUC Kits don’t get past “iPXE initialising devices…”. I tested all files in /tftpboot without success so far.
Is anyone else working with these devices and has a solution ?
I’m having the same issue with the new Intel NUC Kit, they seem to have put in a different mainboard. The NUC’s manufactured in 01/14 worked flawless, while the newer series from 05/14 has some kinks (only accepts 1.35V RAM or 1333MHz 1.5V anything below and it doesn’t even start).
Anyway, they get stuck on “iPXE initialising devices…”. I’ve already tried every file from the /tftboot folder, no luck so far.
Maybe Mike has more luck.
P.S. I’m on 1.1.2
i am running Ubuntu server 12.04 LTS with pam_service_name=vsftpd and no problems
I’m running 12.04.4 LTS. Are you doing fresh installs or do you update ? I’ve done several updates maybe something broke along the way.
Downloaded and installed svn r1605 but it is still not possible to add hosts to a group.
Works for me on rev 1573, from host and group menu. What OS are you using ? Have you checked your logs for mysql/php errors ?
Isn’t the Pam service being made by vsftpd? The only change that I’m aware of for the service was changing from an init.d startup to an upstart startup of the service. Maybe this is one of the differences? You could test this by, with keeping your current configuration and stopping the service with upstart methods. Then try to start it using init.d style startup. If this fails we know that the main difference is in upstart/init.d. And not the configuration directly. It’ll also give us a means to fix this issue in the installer.
Upstart doesn’t seem to work.
administrator@ubuntu:~$ start vsftpd
start: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type=“method_call”, sender=“:1.10” (uid=1000 pid=6267 comm=“start vsftpd “) interface=“com.ubuntu.Upstart0_6.Job” member=“Start” error name=”(unset)” requested_reply=“0” destination=“com.ubuntu.Upstart” (uid=0 pid=1 comm="/sbin/init ")
I normally use “servcie x start/stop/restart” which works fine.
I found a bug in the recent svn version, well not a bug, but a configuration error. On Ubuntu Server 12 “pam_service_name=vsftpd” in /etc/vsftpd.conf has to be “pam_service_name=ftp” or you’ll get ftp login errors on Image upload.
Are you manually starting the task??? I see these three items

Task was started via Task->Groups menu. I’ve Updated to r1525 yesterday, FOGMulticastManager is starting/stopping fine now. Haven’t tried an actual multicast yet though.
I can confirm that multicast is not working.

It seems like the FOGMulticastManager service is not starting properly. On “restart” it says “start-stop-daemon: warning: failed to kill ****: No such process” and on start it just “fails”.
