      In my test environment I’m practicing moving FOG to a new server. I’m having a similar issue to the thread HERE where the client will no longer talk to the new fog server.

      I believe I followed the steps in the wiki correctly, but must have missing something.

      I made sure to move over the ssl folder, assign the rights as outlined, and reset encryption on the clients but still get the error above. The new server has the same IP address as the old (which is what the client install is pointing to) as well as the same server name.

      Any tips or things to check?

      We have a lot of machines that were installed with the fog client pointing to an IP address. I’d like to update them to point to “fogserver” DNS address. How can I do this other than reinstalling the client on each PC?

    • RE: Enabling Fogclient via setupcomplete.cmd breaks unattended win10 installation

      Do you have the fog client already installed on your image or does your setupcomplete.cmd install it? I had an issue when the FOG client was already installed on the image, but I do have the setupcomplete.cmd install the client and just include the .msi on image which works great.

      Here is the log from a newly reloaded PC. Our first user logged in and all the printers pushed by FOG were there. 2nd user logged in (end of the log file) and the printers are missing, but after sitting for about 15 minutes they show up again.

      Do you mean to make it so the image file(s) can’t be overwritten? There is a checkbox under the properties of the image in FOG for “protected” that makes it so this isn’t possible if so.

      All the computers in question should have gotten our generic sysprep image which does use copyprofile in the unattend.xml.

      The printers are configured in fog as network printers so basically a unc path to the printer.

      I’m not so sure this is a fog issue, but wanted to see if anyone else has noticed this.

      FOG does all of our printer installs, but recently I’ve seen a few PCs that only get the printer installed for one user then once user two logs in FOG removes the printers and then doesn’t reinstall them. I can manually install the printers fine but thats not a solution for public use computer.

      I add the fogservice.msi to my sysprep Windows image, but do not install it as part of the image. Then I add the install lines to setupcomplete.cmd that sysprep runs as it completes setup.

      msiexec /i "C:\ProgramData\Bak\FOGService.msi" /quiet USETRAY="1" HTTPS="0" WEBADDRESS="serveripaddress" WEBROOT="/fog" ROOTLOG="1"

      I like this gives us a clean install of FOG on the client and since FOG takes care of joining the workstation to AD I don’t have to worry about including that process in the sysprep process itself. Same for printers, FOG takes care of that automatically as well.

      I think it would be easy enough to have fog uninstall itself if you didn’t want to leave it on the PCs after its initial work is done.
