    • RE: Feature Request Fog Client - Printers

sorry, I wasn’t suggesting I wasn’t able to already do this. I am already managing fog printers in this fashion via groups created in fog, but I already allocate users into groups within AD based on location etc. So I am kind of doing this twice.

I was more thinking that if you have users already allocated in security groups already it would be handy to have a feature on a printer that the fog client automatically sees you as a member of “Admin” or “Finance” and allocates the correct printers without having to do this in two locations (AD and fog), as soon as the printers are configured and ready to go the fog client then knows who this gets deployed to via AD groups.

Anyway it was just a thought and figured I would throw this out there and I only mention it because products like Printer Logic can do this (obviously aimed at a different type of management)

      Cheers!

    • Feature Request Fog Client - Printers

      Hi, Guys.

Just some thoughts here. It Would be great if the Windows FOG Client could deploy printers based on AD security groups.
That way you could have the entire management of printers/deployment managed from the web interface.
I’ve seen a few other printer management software do something similar.

      Cheers,
      Adam

I have other UEFI devices booting fine, just seems the Lenovo Yoga hangs as soon as the Linux Kernel loads.

From the DHCP - filename "ipxe.efi for EFI devices.

There are no errors on the screen as soon as iPXE loads the Linux Kernel it freezes, when I switch it to Legacy boot the kernel loads fine.

      Hi, Guys.

This is a more FYI not sure how I can get more information from the PC but I am finding that when I am putting the laptop into UEFI boot it looks like FOG hard locks at the start with a little - on the screen. I’ve tried booting into compatibility mode but it does the same thing.

Legacy mode works perfectly fine and I am booting and re-imaging that no worries. Was hoping to boot into UEFI mode as that is the default settings out of the box.

anyway just thought I’d throw this out there 🙂 Edit sorry forgot to mention that I have fog updated to RC10. *

Yep, awesome that seemed to fix the issue.
just reset the encryption data for all hosts as it seemed to be happening on every client.

      Thanks. 🙂

    • RE: Sub-Menu within Fog Advanced Menu

      No worries.
Just FYI I can’t get the sub-menu function in iPXE working in the iPXE New Menu Entry section on Fog, So far I only having it working in the Fog Advanced Menu, I am assuming this is to due to system variables that fog passes to the menu before the script is run.

Pretty much all I did was follow on the advanced menus and examples from https://gist.github.com/robinsmidsrod/2234639
I did simplify this on mine just so I can follow it easier as I’m no expert in iPXE.

The easiest way to follow this is the copy and paste the iPXE script into a text document and read through it.
My example is broken down into three menus the default menu that pops up first and two others sub menus that don’t show up until you select them. I have also included the option to hit a key and jump straight to the corresponding menu item. e.g T for tools, D for Diagnostics menu etc.

After editing the ipxe script in notepad or metapad. Copy and paste the iPXE script into the Advanced Configuration Options (Fog Configuration --> iPXE Boot Menu). I generally have the login required to password protect the menu because of a few destructive tools, this can be done by ticking the box for Advanced Menu Login under the section --> Fog Configuration --> iPXE Boot Menu.

I hope I am making sense as I’m not exactly the best at typing out documentation.
Is this what you were after?

Would be quite handy to have some other example of good Fog Menu configurations up on the Wiki as well, as I love reading through other examples on what works and what doesn’t 🙂

      Cheers,

This allows you to have several sub menus inside of the advanced Fog Menu, so you can break things down into sections.
Not all of the options maybe be 100% correct but they work for me so far 🙂

I based it from the iPXE documentation and https://gist.github.com/robinsmidsrod/2234639

Hopefully it helps a few people out.

We don’t actually have access to the deployment via GPO as that is controlled by externally but we can install what we need manually or via login scripts.
So just re-reinstalling with the MSI over top the existing install should fix this?

      e.g.

      FOGService.msi" /quiet USETRAY="1" HTTPS="0" WEBADDRESS="fog2" WEBROOT="/fog" ROOTLOG="1"

      Thanks 🙂

Thanks for the quick response 🙂

    • Fog Client - 0.10.3 issues after update on host from previous version.

      Hi, Guys.

I have found after the automatic update of the fog client to version 0.10.3 I’m now seeing an error on the updated hosts.

I found that if I uninstall the client manually and re-install, the client starts working correctly again.
This only seems to happen after it automatically updates.

    • RE: After update of Fog Trunk - PHP Errors

      Hey guys.

Just FYI I updated to the latest trunk version and so far the CPU load has dropped quite substantially.
Between 2% and 20% depending on the traffic from the Clients.

The only remaining errors I have is a PHP Warnings

[Thu Apr 28 11:29:42.884801 2016] [:error] [pid 1551] [client 127.0.0.1:53970] PHP Warning: session_destroy(): Trying to destroy uninitialized session in /var/www/html/fog/lib/fog/user.class.php on line 113

[Thu Apr 28 11:30:48.950325 2016] [:error] [pid 1551] [client 10.55.14.100:15431] PHP Warning: array_map(): An error occurred while invoking the map callback in /var/www/html/fog/lib/fog/fogbase.class.php on line 451

Aside from this everything else seems to be working correctly including the client not looping and stuck on authentication.

      Fog Version: 7380

      Thanks again guys.
I’m guessing this could be marked as solved as of Fog Version: 7380 for me.

      Cheers.

    • RE: After update of Fog Trunk - PHP Errors

Hopefully its ok I am loading this thread up with screenshots of issues?

Ok, with some unscientific testing on the new server, I’m also getting higher CPU with only 2 hosts that have been registered.
Before I registered the hosts the CPU was near 0% now it is quite a bit higher.

I am suspecting the Fog Clients are basically flooding the FOG server as it seems to do a request every few seconds.
The Fog client logs are also filling up pretty quickly.

I’m basically getting the following over and over and over again until the fog.log starts again.
