Im running 2570 and just did a unicast to one client and the image completes but at the end it says sending to database and I get this.

Continuously scrolling and in task manager in the gui it says imaging still in progress.

So under paremeters whats the easiest way for me to link the .iso in the tftboot folder ?

Any documentation on adding the new custom IPXE Boot menu ? Just want to link my custom bootmenu item to an .iso.

In the latest SVN, what php file is storing the settings for custom ipxe boot menu ? When you add a custom menu item basically … what file stores that . Reading through the forums its under advanced but im going through all the code and im not coming across it.

I know I can add it I’m just saying, it would be nice to have that in a final release of 1.3. You came this far on making huge changes from 1.2 just would put the icing on the cake . You could even pull a Microsoft and skip over a version and call it 1.4 . LOL

Trying to help you guys out here because I think what you are doing is awesome from an open source perspective and providing schools that have no money with a solution that is free. I’m a big advocate for this project and promote the use of your product to other schools and businesses . Hence why I have been taking time out of my day to give you found bug reports and suggestions on your SVN releases. More then likely next year I might want to incorporate your product into a few seminars ill be conducting on ways of creating a 1 to 1 district by saving money with open source solutions. No doubt in my mind the installations of your product will be on a lot more sites.

So be that as it may I will just add the menus myself once the final build of 1.3 is released. Keep up the good work.

Can we add Drive Fitness test to IPXE menu ?

You have already memtest 86 on there already but we really need hard drive test software. If you know of a better open source hd test program please deft put It on there.

Or maybe just have the top manufactures testing tools on there.

So when you click on the HD Test it brings up 3 options.

Had a thought… Under the kernel section. There should be an area on there that says the current kernel you have installed.

Bugs Found in 2508

1. I setup a multicast for 3 clients with a 4 min timeout. First 2 clients joined without an issue . I went to go join the 3rd client and it said no session exists. In the Gui it say the multicast is in progress. Something is wrong with the timeout because there was no way I went over 4 min. Also the two clients that did join the session are just sitting at the part clone screen. No imaging started.

2. Killing a task doesn’t stop imaging now from the gui. Tried stopping a unicast from the gui and its still imaging the client.

yeah I agree that’s a better idea on quick image. I like the idea of testing. Good call. Let me know when you add that.

Under the IPXE boot menu when you select quick image. If a host was registered prior with quick host reg and you go to run quick image it will kick back to the menu, due to the fact no image is assigned to that pc. Instead of it kicking back to a menu it should state that this host doesn’t have an image assigned to it and bring up the list of images and be able to assign that image .

I made a session for 2 clients with a timeout of 2 mins.

I joined 1 pc and waited to see if the session would start after 2 mins. I waited 5 mins and tried to join the other PC and it says no session with that name exists which is good, however the other PC that joined the session stated it was in session on the GUI but it just sits at the PartClone screen doing nothing.

I thought if the session timeout expires the session is suppose to start regardless of how many clients? I had a session for 2 clients and I didn’t join the other pc because I wanted to see if the session would start if other pc didn’t join after the timeout I had specified which was 2 mins.

Bugs Found SVN 2498

1. When multicast timeout expires, imaging doesn’t start. In GUI it says task is in progress.
2. Date and Time is off in the task manager view. Says image started at 1:00PM . However its 9:19AM here EST. Is there a setting im missing in general settings ?

Bugs Found SVN 2488

1. Host has to be registered with the image being broadcasted or wont join session.
2. If joining a session on multicast and username and password is entered incorrectly, you are brought back to the ipxe boot screen however upon retrying to join the session the old username and password credentials are left behind. You have to manually delete this. This should automatically be deleted when retrying to enter credentials.
3. On the multicast image management screen when session starts the client count is incorrect. Currently im imaging 5 clients in a multicast right now and it says I’m doing 10.
4. Active Multicast- Task Management displays session in State Queued even tho the task is started and imaging.
5. Under imaging log reports the failed client hosts are being shown. However only successful images should be displayed or have failed host images in a separate report. This throws off stats.

Easy way to determine off the logs if image failed i noticed was End Date = -42 or if End Time = 0:00:00 . Maybe have that in that in the code if those variables are present discard from the imaging log .

The issue with the multicasting I narrowed down to that if a host is registered with no image selected within the host registration section the host has issues and wont join the multicast session. If a host is registered with a different image under host registration then what is being broadcasted in the multicast it loads the script like its about to join the session and reboots. So the hosts deft have to be registered with the image selected that is being broadcasted.

When I mean no image selected I mean when you register the host and it asks you for a particular image that host should be registered with.

Just tried adding a host to a multicast that is registered with no image selected and it wont join the session. Ill have to try next a host that is registered with a different image to determine if multicast only plays nice with hosts registered with that particular image.

Just tried doing a multicast with 6 hosts and timeout set to 5 minutes and they just sat at the partclone screen. I just reran that multicast session with 3 hosts and 1 min timeout and now its working. So im not sure if the issues is related to the timeout or the quantity of hosts. How does the timeout work ? Is the timeout reset back to 5 minutes every time a host joins the session and counts down to 0 or when the first host joins does it start the timeout and when 5 minutes is up the multicast starts regardless of how many pcs specified ?

Two things… ever since the update to 2487 when you go to register a host from ipxe menu or join a multicast session it hangs at sending network discovery and then finally goes in. About a 60 sec lag time. Also another thing I noticed is in order for a host to join a multicast session, that host has to be registered with the image that is being broadcasted. Im not sure if that’s a bug or by design. However, if the host system is not registered with the image that is being broadcasted it just hangs at the Broadcom screen all rights reserved. If this is by design, then it should give an error message saying this host isn’t registered with the following image and kick you back to the main ipxe menu.
