Many years ago I wrote a feature for FOG 0.28 which allowed a scheduled task to cancel other tasks.
I am now evaluating FOG 1.2, and would like to know if and how I can get the change incorporated into the mainline FOG code (or as some kind of plugin).

The problem the feature solves is that if I scheduled a virus scan at 1am, but some machines fail to wake-up-on-LAN, then when the users boot the machine later in the morning, the machine proceeds with the virus scan then, with no way of avoiding it, save going into FOG and cancelling the task.

So I wrote a cancellation task, which I schedule for 3am. Then, any Virus scan task that has not run by 3am is automatically cancelled, so the users could use the machine when they come in.

While I only implemented the UI to support a canccellation task for the virus scan, the cancellation task can be applied to any other type of scheduled task.

Hi All,

Many years ago I wrote an email notification system for Fog 0.28. When I posted about it, I got some responses from people saying they would be interested in having that integrated into Fog.

However, I failed to make contact with any of the developers, and so my feature has remained in my own copy of 0.28.

I am currently evaluating FOG 1.2, and would like to know how I could get my email notification system integrated into the mainline code, once I’ve ported it.

The primary use I made of it is to have the FOG server to send email notifications of Viruses detected by Clamav, but any part FOG could use the system to send notifications (if configured to do so).

Hi All,

I’ve searched the forums a bit, but not found an easy answer - my apologies if I’ve missed an existing post.

I would like to update the version of Clamav that is pushed out to my FOG clients for the virus scan.
I know I have done this once before (back in 2011) by updating the init.gz image, but I can’t find the documentation I used then.

I am currently on FOG 0.28 (but will be upgrading by the end of the year).

Q1: what is the best way to update clamav on FOG?
a) update to a new kernel from the FOG website?
b) update the clamav binaries and libs in my existing FOG init.gz?

Q2: if I do want to just update the existing init.gz, where is the best place to source the updated clamav binaries and libs?
