I agree with your removal of ClamAV. I think the FOG project’s focus should be towards the PXE and imaging side of things. Other tools should be up to each specific user to set up, especially since adding additional options to the boot menu has become so easy.

Known Issue: Exchange 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 8posted in General
Just thought I’d pass this along:
Anyone running Exchange 2010 SP3, make sure you uninstall Update Rollup 8. It introduces an issue that will cause services crashes like:
M.E.RpcClientAccess.Service, M.E.RpcClientAccess.Handler, M.E.R.H.ViewCache.IsRowWithinUnreadCache, System.IndexOutOfRangeException
The issue has to do with RPC packet handling that was damaged in the update. Typically this issue will arise from Outlook clients on the local network while opening a connection to a mailbox.
The issue is resolved if you uninstall the update. Microsoft has already pulled the update and is working on a replacement update.

RE: Upgrading FOG Serverposted in General
I would suggest a newer version, but my release senses are tingling, and I think a new Stable Release is not far off.

That is relevant to my interests.

RE: Suggestions for new serverposted in General
The server has two 1Gb network interfaces so I’ve scounged a redundant Cisco 3750 switch from our networks people and will bond the adapters and run a pair of aggregated ports on the switch.
I’d love to chat with you sometime about how you set up your NIC bonding.
FWIW I am running a Dell PowerEdge 2900 that I consolidated down from two of that model that were being retired. It is running 4GB of RAM, a 250GB RAID1 array for the OS, and a 2TB RAID10 array for image storage. I realize that is an excessive amount of storage for normal use of FOG, but I have been using FOG as a pre-repair image storage system until I can get our Unified System Image implemented.
That being said, the Dell PowerEdge 2900 is no spring chicken anymore, but performs more than fast enough for our demands. HOWEVER, I would NOT want to run FOG on a workstation architecture unless it was set up beautifully. I would want excess cooling and an aftermarket RAID card at least. The reason for this is so that the system can have as much redundancy and reliability as possible. Even then, unless you get premium parts, you are still likely to have problems because workstations are just not designed to be on 24/7. So with all of the money you would sink in to building a potent, redundant, downright beautiful workstation, you could easily get a basic server that would server you better and for longer.

RE: Suggestions for new serverposted in General
Are you planning on building using actual server architecture or are you going to be using workstation hardware as a server?

Then navigate to the folder you specified and run:

That does sound too small. You may also want to check your SQL logs.

Are all of these in UEFI mode by any chance?
Also, no necro.

RE: Schema update failedposted in FOG Problems
Another possibility is you did not supply the right DB password during install. Did you have MySQL installed before you installed FOG?

Option 60 on your DHCP did not have anything to do with the domain loosing trust on your laptop. That was just a bad coincidence.
It sounds like you are getting pretty close to getting it working!

RE: Best Distro/Version of Linux to useposted in Tutorials
Much to my dismay, Debian now seems to have the same"feature" as Ubuntu, requiring a reboot on the TFTP service after booting the server. Overall, I still prefer Debian for a server though.

RE: FOG Virtual Machineposted in General
What firewall/AV do you have running on the Windows side of things? I had to tell my AV software to leave the virtual connection completely alone, but the other option would be creating exceptions for every port that the Virtual Machine would use.
On a side note, why are you using Virtualbox instead of the built in Hyper-V? If you are running a Windows Server install, Hyper-V should already be included, and should give you better virtualization performance and support.

RE: BASH exploitposted in General
There is no good reason to still be using the 10.04 LTS branch. There are newer LTS branches out. However, this all comes down to personal setup and preference, and does not impact FOG.

Yes, this should be a new thread, and no, you shouldn’t use OEM partitions in combination with FOG imaging.

Is there any other data on the disk that needs to be retained? If not I would suggest doing a disk wipe.
