• RE: FOG enters the root path while starting to load an image

I’m no longer getting the root@fogclient prompt after updating to SVN 3549. I was able to successfully register a new host.

I’ve got the same problem with svn 3546. I get to a root@fogclient prompt after choosing to register the host. When I type ‘fog’ at the prompt, a message is displayed.

      **An error has been detected

Fatal error: Unknown request type :: Null
      **
and then it says that it will reboot in one minute

    • RE: Upload error: rcu_preempt

I don’t remember if anything was plugged in when the pic was taken. I did retry with nothing plugged in and there was always an rcu_preempt message and it would not continue. Unfortunately, that computer has already been picked up and I can’t retest it.

    • Upload error: rcu_preempt

      running svn 3375
      debian 7.8

I tried an upload task on a Pavilion dv7 notebook (with i7 processor) and got an rcu_preempt message. It stopped after the message and didn’t upload. However, after moving the hard drive from the Pavilion to an older desktop computer, a new upload task completed successfully from the desktop. Here’s a pic of the message on the dv7 notebook:

      Yes - 1.2.0 revision 3356 - using Debian 7.8.0

    • RE: Lsblk: /dev/sda?: not a block device

After a quick FAT32 format, the system seems to work. I formatted the blank drive and was able to register the host and deploy Windows 7 to the hard drive. It also registers the host when the drive is formatted for Linux.
when you say “new hard drive”, do you mean a blank one? Or just a “newer” one that has some partitions on it ?
It’s actually new and blank with no partitions or data

I got it on a Toshiba Satellite notebook: M305D-S4830, an older computer with a K8T Neo-V MSI mainboard and a VirtualBox virtual machine.

I get that message all the time with the current revision - images do not restore and it’s impossible to register a new host.
Maurice,

What revision is this occurring on? Have you updated to 3218 and see if this still exists?
I was testing rev 3218, but after updating to rev 3220 a few minutes ago, the FOG Client file downloaded OK. So wow!

I’ve never see FOG development move so quickly.

      Thanks!

Thank you very much! I think that’s it - an ftp password issue. I set the user password and the password in the fog configuration to the same thing and my latest test upload put everything in /images/testimage.

from a web browser, I do get a message asking for user name and password, but it isn’t fog and password, so I’ll have to check into that.

    • Images in /images/dev

using revision 3183 on Debian 7.8 XFCE (Wheezy)

not sure if this is a bug since I’ve had the problem with all revisions

for some reason all of my images are stored in /images/dev/[mac address of host] and they’re never moved out

      I increased the FOG_FTP_TIMEOUT to 200

here are the last errors in the apache2 log:

You still need to install/update your database schema.
This can be done by opening a web browser and going to:

        http://192.168.1.50/fog/management

Press [Enter] key when database is updated/installed.

I’m testing version 3174 now and I get the following message when attempting to create a download task:

Failed to create deployment tasking for the following hosts

Test-Machine: There are no snapins associated with this host

I’m using Debian 7.8 (XFCE) for my fog server, and had a virtualbox xp w/ no partitions as the Test-Machine.
