    • RE: Multicast issue

@george1421 Ok, thank you for that information. I’ll use that if I find out I need to.
I do have one further question with the multicasting I’m doing now - What may cause the task to basically stop? I haven’t paused the task and my clients look like they’re still getting the image, however, the rate is now down to 162mb/minute and dropping, and it’s been stuck at 27% completion for a little while now. Didn’t take long to get to that point, but now the rate is dropping. I double checked my layer 1 connections because I figured I bumped something (I did apparently bump something and lost connection once), but the rate is still dropping. Do I need to restart? Not sure what would cause that other than layer 1. I’m looking at my hosts in the GUI and I see that the status of only one of them is unknown, while the status of the other two (only testing three at a time at the moment) show the OS. I feel like that shouldn’t pause the task, but I’m not a super pro at this point.
Thanks again for any help you can provide.

    • RE: Multicast issue

      @george1421 Thanks for you response.
I decided to just put the FOG server on the same subnet (instead of getting in the switches and messing with them more).

I followed these steps to make sure the migration happened properly - https://docs.fogproject.org/en/latest/reference/change_fog_server_ip_address.html

Everything is working now!!! At this point, I wouldn’t mind creating a new server for each subnet that I’ll be working with because my switch work (these are really old HP switches and the router is an old L3 switch) apparently didn’t do anything when I tried to get igmp working a few weeks ago. Again, thanks for your help! I know that I understood what logically needed to be done, I just needed that logic explained to me in someone’s own words.

    • Multicast issue

I am unable to multicast. It always hangs. I can capture, and I can unicast to the subnet I’m trying to, but no multicast.

Here is my debug error when attempting to multicast. I’ve looked for /var/log/partclone.log but it doesn’t exist:
      7d58650e-85cc-4f9f-80c8-fca6ac4ad3b4-Debug_Error.jpg

This is fdisk -l on the client during debug:
      befedaf9-989a-4f1b-912b-52e8f9f3bbf9-Client_fdisk.jpg

      Here is the hang:
      c1726597-8968-4e25-aaeb-293a6d6d3ca4-Partclone_Hang.jpg

I’m just not sure how to troubleshoot from here. I’ve run through all the wiki’s and troubleshooting steps and forum posts I could find on the subject. I’ve also rebuilt twice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@george1421 Thanks. I’m going to debug a bit more next time I’m in the office.

    • RE: Unable to deploy - No route to host

      @george1421 Thanks for your response.

Why wouldn’t the pxe booting computer have a route to 10.0.4.25 (assuming that is your fog server IP)? I would have previously had a route since iPXE was loaded to get the FOG menu and bzImage was also downloaded.

You must be on to something here. I was able to PXE boot and I was also able to unicast to that lab before, and somewhere along the way, I no longer can. When could it have lost that route? I’m sure there’s a solution if I messed up a configuration along the way.

The client and FOG server are on different subnets.
There is a firewall that I don’t (yet) have access to.

    • Unable to deploy - No route to host

I am unable to deploy images. I see a similar problem in this forum post but I’m still getting the same error after working through what I could: https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/9677/could-not-mount-images-folder-bin-fog-upload/2
I have FOG installed on an Ubuntu VM.
I have followed the Troubleshooting NFS wiki ( https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Troubleshoot_NFS ), however, I am still getting the error:

      Mounting File System …Failed
Could not mount images folder (/bin/fog.download)
      Args Passed:
Reason: mount: mounting 10.0.4.25:/images on images failed: No route to host

The FOG server IP address is correct.

My /etc/exports file is correct and is as follows:

      /images *(ro,sync,no_wdelay,no_subtree_check,insecure_locks,no_root_squash,insecure,fsid=0)
      /images/dev *(rw,async,no_wdelay,no_subtree_check,no_root_squash,insecure,fsid=1)

Even more strangely, I can register a host from the FOS and when I attempt to do that or join a multicast session, FOS allows me to use the “fog” user to start that. That got me thinking - the FOG user manager GUI shows a user named fog, so I’m assuming that’s the one, but I’m not seeing it as a user in my server, as shown above; I only have users called fogserver and fogproject. Is it possible I deleted the main user and that has messed something up?

      GUI showing fog user:
      c6c6347d-0075-4d4c-9388-8e542c85d486-image.png

This is my third build and I feel like in all the troubleshooting, I must have done something small but significant to prevent this from working. Any help is welcome and appreciated.

PS - I was able to deploy a single image at some point… I can no longer do that and I’m not sure when that happened.
