    • Image replication loop - incorrect file size calculation

      Hi,
I have FOG 1.3.0 RC4 SVN 5941 running on 3 servers, connected via WAN. For the last few revisions, image replication has been looping. It takes a few days to replicate over the WAN and when finished starts all over again.
Upon further investigation of the logs, I have realised that it is because the replication process incorrectly calculates the local file size. Please find attached two shapshots. One of the local image filesize of the largest file being 8306809333 bytes. The other image shows the log displaying the remote filesize as the correct number, but the local size incorrectly as -283125259. So the replication starts all over again.

    • RE: Apache Fails (trunk4004)

      Hi,
For what it’s worth, this happened to me on Ubuntu 12.04 and the newer SVN’s. (from about 37xx) It started off with the “json” package failing. I followed a few threads to try and “fix” it but it ended up breaking the package manager. I’m guessing here, but something may be wrong with the extra package repositories added by the SVN and it breaks the package manager. I didn’t take a snapshot of the errors but it had to do with PHP5 and dependencies and was in an endless loop. After a couple of days of frustration and no online solutions, I bit the bullet and did a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04.3LTS. Reinstalled FOG 1.2.0, then the latest SVN installed seamlessly. I had 3 nodes all on Ubuntu 12.04 and the SVN broke them all. With Ubuntu 14.04 the SVN installs fine. I’m still experiencing problems re-imaging but at least FOG is up and running. Hope this info helps.

Thanks for the info, it helped.
I have 3 nodes in total. One was an older version of ubuntu with an earlier SVN, and this was affecting the bandwidth monitor. I removed it and the 2 up-to-date nodes come up on the monitor. Thanks Wayne.

Interface eth0. Standard path of /fog/status/bandwidth.php for the bandwidth path. nothing has changed and still using the same hardware. Storage node interface has the same settings and the same hardware.

    • R4664 missing bandwidth graph

      Hi,

I’m using Ubuntu 14.04.3LTS. I’ve recently installed SVN 4664. Well the install showed it was version 4014 but the GUI reports 4664 (??) The bandwidth graph has disappeared. The heading is is there and the options (Transmit,Receive, 2 minute etc.) are there, but no graph border, timescale or data appears. The earlier version R4586 also had this issue. I’ve reinstalled a couple of times with no success. Any ideas please? Thanks, Mark.

    • Local image upload feature and on/off ability

      Hi all,
Hope I am not repeating a previous request but I haven’t noticed one like this.

We have 3 library branches. Some images are the same and the replication feature works well. Image uploaded at main branch and replicated over a period of time via VPN tunnel to branches.
I have a few PC’s with different images at these 3 branches. Some from the master node don’t get used at the storage nodes, some at storage nodes don’t get used at the master node.
It would be nice to have the following 2 features:

      1. the ability at a remote site to upload an image locally (so it uploads in minutes) to a storage node which then replicates over the WAN to the master node via the VPN tunnel over time.
      2. the ability to turn on or off replication for a particular image so that it does not tie down the WAN unneccessarily if it does not need to go to the remote site.
Thanks. Interested to hear your feedback. Regards, Mark

    • RE: Remote Imaging -- Will FOG Work?

Hi, I’ve had this working since 2012. Basically I have 3 Fogservers, the master where I am based, and 2 others, one about 1/2 hour away and the other an hour away. The 3 sites are connected with IPSec tunnel.
I upload an image to the local FOgserver and it replicates slowly across the tunnel to the remote sites. Once transferred, I can \ then create an image task for a remote PC. From there I can run a script on the remote PC which forces it to PXE boot and it gets reimaged.
Maks a couple of customisations and its good to go. HOWEVER, since FOG 1.2 the transfers across the IPSec tunnel have been slower and occasionally stop, which is very frustrating especially since the transfers take over a day to complete!

I went back to 1.2.0 …too much grief with the last couple of SVN’s for a live system! 🙂

    • 3309 SVN blank schema update page

      HI,

Just installed the 3309 SVN which fixes the FOG Client install issue. Now the web browser shows a blank screen when the schema update page is supposed to be present.
Thought it might be an issue with MySQL so reinstalled it, but still the same. Blank screen on Schema update page so FOG installation does not complete.

OK, just tried with 3221, which must have been submitted in the last hour. Still fails but I get a message now. Screenshot attached.

I’ve just lost connection to my FOG server at work. I’m going to have to go in and check that out. I’ll post the results. Thanks, Mark

Hi Wayne, I downloaded and tried the latest SVN literally 25 minutes ago - SVN 3220. Unless Tom has made changes in the last 25 minutes it still does not work for me. Please advise where the “Download new FOG Client file” can be bypassed. Thanks, Mark

SVN 3220 still hangs on “Downloading new FOG CLient file”. I dont receive any messages. Nothing in the syslog file.
Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS. If someone could let me know where the script is that attempts to download the new client file I’ll comment that out. Thanks, Mark

    • RE: SVN 3192 hangs

Wayne, thanks for the reply. Yes I’ve tried that. I have 3 Fog imageservers at different locations. It has happened on all 3. They get to the same point of downloading the client file and sit there. I’ve removed and reloaded the SVN a few times on each with the same result every time The install script downloads the kernels and init files ok.
Can you or someone advise where this part of the script is? I don’t need the new client files, I’m sure they can be downloaded manually later on. Until then my imageservers have been rendered inoperable!
      Thanks in advance, Mark

    • SVN 3192 hangs

      Hi,

I’ve just attempted to install SVN3192. All goes well until the “Downloading new FOG Client file…” message and it just sits there.

I’ve waited about half an hour but no joy. It downloads the kernels and inits ok. I’ve checked the installation log but it just shows the same as the installation screen…stops on the client install.

I’m on Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS OS, and was previously on SVN 21xx (I think!)

Any ideas? Should it only take seconds to download the new client file, how long do I wait?

      Thanks in advance, Mark

Tom, the code for the bandwidth monitor is attached, put a .txt extension on it. I did not create the array to put multiple graphs in here, it was already a part of 0.32 I believe.

    • RE: Bandwith graph missing for storage nodes on FOG 1.2

An update for those viewing this post. Tom Elliot has advised me that we now see just the bandwidth info for the node selected in the disk space piechart. So bandwidth information is no longer shown for all nodes at once.

OK, thanks for the clarification Tom. Bit of a shame though, it was good to see all the nodes at once, will this feature be added back in?
