Are all of your nodes on the same FOG versions? From what I understand SQL gets a bit fussy if they aren’t.

Our district had an issue that caused us to need to roll back some to previous VM snapshots. Some of the nodes went to considerably older versions. As I updated the master, the management became terribly slow. We removed the bad nodes to later rebuild and started updating the rest. While it’s not back to normal, it is better.

With that said, following for more solutions.

    • RE: image/. file is at 265+ G and crashing several nodes- keeps growing

This is solved from a FOG point of view.

The problem was that a user replicated several large images overnight and Hyper-V expanded the VM, choking the main servers.

Thank you for all of your help @Sebastian-Roth!

      Description

I have a set up with a master and 16 nodes. I came in this morning to 8 nodes down due to space. I’ve found that at /images there is “.” at 268 G on one of the servers (probably all of them). I can’t get servers back up because as soon as I make space, it’s getting used again. I think I know the offending image and I’ve removed it from the group that it’s replicating to. I’m on the node that’s causing the issue but I’m not sure how to clean up the “.” file.

Any advice would be very welcome.

    • Start Date/Time on Tasks

It would be great to be able to tell when a task was set while looking at the Task Management tab. I deal with several users on different nodes that don’t always go back and clear out failed/aborted tasks. I’d like to be able to confidently clear them and not be concerned that I’m clearing a newly created task instead.

    • RE: Pending MAC resulting in multiple MAC Addresses per client

      @xx23piracy Good catch!

I reviewed them and yes, they are laptops. I tracked one down and yes, it is adding MAC addresses that it previously didn’t have a record for. It just worried me because the hosts already existed and have been there for a while then it all the sudden started adding all these extra addresses.

      So…resolved it looks like. Thanks!

I should mention, they are not VM machines. I did see an earlier post stating that this issue was happening on VMs. 🙂

    • Pending MAC resulting in multiple MAC Addresses per client

      Version 1.3.3
      SVN 6061
      OS CentOS 7

Hi- I just recently updated to the newest version of CentOS and FOG. I am now seeing a lot of pending MAC messages. When I go in to approve them, I see multiple MAC listings per client (2-3). Upon approval, they are adding to the list of Additional MACs under the host information. What do I need to do to fix this?

      SORT OF SOLVED

She is using Chrome, cleaned the history, cookies, app data. I was able to delete so I asked her to show me her steps.

I had her log into FOG management using my machine to delete an image. She was going into an image edit panel, unprotecting it, updating then back at the list of all images, checking the box to the right of the name and clicking to delete the image at the bottom of the screen, authenticating at the prompt, etc and finding it was only deleting the name of the image, not the file on the server. 0_1481744424555_image.png

I was going into the edit of the image, unprotecting the image, updating then clicking delete from the Image menu. It then shows a checkbox to delete the data. I had her do it that way and it worked as expected. The image name and the data deleted.

@Wayne-Workman Hi there, Wayne. Mostly so, thanks to the great set up that was in place. 🙂 I’m working on a small issue now but that’s for another thread perhaps. We haven’t needed to do a delete yet since I’ve updated but I will give that a try. Thanks, Wayne!

      Thanks x23piracy

Okay to the update. I’ll do that this afternoon.

I know where the logs are in FOG Management but I’m not sure which one covers this. Apache Access perhaps? This system is running a master and 13 nodes so that log rolls pretty fast but I’ll see what I can do to read through it.

    • Images are not deleting

      Fog Version 1.3.0-RC-23
      SVN Revision 6017

When deleting an image in FOG Management, we get the authentication window and the user authenticates then clicks delete. A second window appears and she’s not able to click delete because it disappears too quickly or she is able to click delete but the file still remains. I then go in using ssh and delete the file for the image.

It did work prior to the update.
      Any advice?

It can’t wget the version number on the main server which is on a different subnet. We changed the Web Server setting to the nodes IP and it was successful. This affects the background image for the boot menu also. It’s ARP related. It seems to only effect the older models (7303 and 6073).

Also, having it set as a debug session does not alway give a prompt. Sometimes, it’s just a blank screen with a flashing cursor.

Working with Wayne Workman: In a debug session the file /usr/share/fog/lib/funcs.sh line #31 (wget call that fails) causes the blinking cursor.

We’ve tried eliminating the options but it still fails but the url does work in a browser.
