    • Service unavaible after deployment task

      Ubuntu 17.10
      Fog 1.5.4
      Client 0.11.16

      Hi,

I was making a deployment (basic, not in multicast because it makes crash fog) and something and an error has occurred:
Web Ui not longer reachable. I tried to reinstall fog but when i have to install/update database the web Ui is not reachable too. Last time that it makes me this i had a little time to kill all my task and the server can run again but now… even whorse, i can’t finish the installation, it stucks at :

      * Ensuring node username and passwords match...................

Maybe is there a way to kill task without accessing to the web interface ?

      Help

      Fog serveur : 1.5.3 on ubuntu 17.10 amd64

      Hi,

I’ve upgraded today my fog server from 1.5.0 to 1.5.3. I’ve got no issue and everythings works just fine.
Except the part where fog erases partition tables… I mean it works but it takes about five-ten minutes for doing it.
Before upgrading i don’t know how much times it took but i’ll say about a few second.

      Any idea ?

@george1421 Yes i tried to reinstall fog many times by the installer. I’ve got to reinstall it each time i tried to deploy a classroom with both methods, basic and multicast. I’ll give a shot to @ddavis 's method next monday. Thanks

    • Deployment task after upgrading ubuntu 17.04 to 17.10

      Info:

      • Ubuntu netinstall 17.04LTS amd64 upgraded to 17.10
      • Fog 1.5.2 with 0.11.16 client
      • Client Win 7 Pro x64

      Hi,

I was using fog for a year now on a ubuntu 17.04 untill i’ve got to upgrade it on 17.10 because the distrib is not supported anymore.
It was a little tricky as you can see here but its works well only one thing :

I cannot create a group task deployment (basic and multicast) without a crash of fog. And i mean only the fog services, ubuntu works well.
I’ve got to ./installfog (and kill tasks quickly before its crashing again) for makes fog works again. Symptoms :

      • tftp no more reachable
      • pxe stucks
      • web UI no more accessible
      • maybe more things

For now if i deploy hosts one by one it works fine.

      Thanks.

    • RE: Client does not communicate with Fog server

I’ve got a new issue just only with the AD join function… Here in the fog log :

03/05/2018 20:49 HostnameChanger Logon failure: unknown username or bad password, code = 1326

I havn’t change anything about the acount for joining the domain… Is there a new way to configure that ?

EDIT: a server update has desactivated the fog acount (for modifying the password)… Problem solved

@joe-schmitt I resolve my issue with a backup of my old VM disk. I upgraded the distribution to 17.10 (18.04 stuck at curl installation) without removing the old kernels. It was working fine since a couple of day since this evening, the web UI is no more accessible. When i try to ./installfog.sh again the installation stuck at :

      * ensuring node username and passwords match..........

Did you ever see that ?

EDIT: proxy problem… same as here

    • RE: Client does not communicate with Fog server

@joe-schmitt Thanks. I was hopefull on this but it didn’t worked. Even worse, i cannot communucate with the client that is given with the 1.5.2 version since i’ve backed up the certificats (/opt/fog/snapins/ssl).
My old server was based on a ubuntu 17.04 (netinstall, that is not supported anymore), i tried to use the version 17.10 (netinstall) but i’ve got an error with the deployment. So i tried to use a 16.10 version but there the problems start :

      • can’t use the old certificats because its not communicate
      • new client won’t work anyway…

Is that because i’ve downgraded the ubuntu version ? Is there a fix of fog (kernel maybe) on the way for ubuntu 17.10 (or 18.04) ?

Thanks for all you do !

@george1421 I moved the file /var/www/fog/management/other/ssl/srvpublic.crt to the new server but it seems to not respond even after a reboot. I mean, the power managment and AD join does’nt work.

There are some others files in /var/www/fog/management/other/ , Do i need to move them too ?

    • Client does not communicate with Fog server

      Fog server : 1.5 on ubuntu 16.04 X64
      Client : Windows 7 Pro X64

      Hi,

I’ve change a couple of day my workstation from an old intel processor to a ryzen platform.
I had to reinstall all from the begining and recreate the fog server (in a Virtual Machine).

Obviously, the client does not communicate with the new server…
Is there a way to make them communicate again without reinstalling the client on all hosts ?

      Thanks

@wayne-workman I did that with big hope, indeed i’ve forgot to remove kaspersky… But its not working.
This time the log is different, file “C:\Program Files (x86)\FOG\token.dat” does not exists on the drive.

      Hi,

    • Adding host in a group and create it - Bug

      Hi,

I’ve noticed that when i want to add hosts in a new group (the group is not created before) it adds all registered host in it instead of those selected.
I let you imagine last time what it deed when i started a deployement task without verifing the memberships of the new group…

Is there something that you can do ?

      Thanks

      François.

@george1421 The host (win 7 pro) has been made by an other fog in a second site. I’ve reinstalled the fog client. I didn’t use the fog acount ever.
