RE: Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with Surface Docking Station - Unable to get boot file
I managed to get it working with a USB2.0 to Ethernet Dongle by Lenovo here
It deploys the image successfully but it boot looped because i dont have efi image (surface pro 4 cant do legacy boot anymore)
Anyway, thanks a lot for your help and I wish I could lend/give you a microsoft surface pro 4 for your testing. This is the first one and many to come in the near future in our company here.
It seems that the issue here is the official microsoft docking station not re-acquiring network connection
Cheers

RE: Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with Surface Docking Station - Unable to get boot file
Right, now the issue was i didnt have USB keyboard connected. I connected it now.
I have unplug and plug as it requested, didnt seem to getting any IP address. I can confirm the previous screen (first screenshot on my original post) that it found the Fog server 10.3.24.15.I tried another USB docking station by Lenovo USB3.0 USB, this one fails miserably.
What is the next step do you think? I havent updated to the latest RC 10 and was booting up using the USB with ipxe.efi (latest one from here)
what should i do next?

RE: Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with Surface Docking Station - Unable to get boot file
@george1421 Hi george,
I did search the forum and yes you are right, there are plenty topics about surface pro 4. but I still cant make sense some of it. some require to add has_usb_nic=1 which I have added on the host i created manually. I managed to get a copy of the factory image by using clonezilla and with external USB keyboard.
so should I still need to boot from USB?
@Tom-Elliott I will try upgrading to RC 10 tomorrow. So, that information sd 0:0:0:0 [sda] No Caching mode page found
. will it eventually proceed? I did follow an instruction to add has_usb_nic=1 from one of the forum post. -

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with Surface Docking Station - Unable to get boot file
I have tried finding information on this forum but [so far I havent had any luck yet.
My server is ubuntu 14 with fog 1.3.0 RC-8. Dnsmasq with proxydns mode
The target machine is Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with official docking station ms storeI have successfully boot UEFI via USB forum link and got the bootscreen. I have then manually created the host and the boot screen recognized it has been registered.
I was like yay!
But then when I assign a capture task i encountered this error
And that’s it, it hang and not going anywhere. I have to hard power off the surface pro 4.
Here’s my ltsp.conf settings
# Sample configuration for dnsmasq to function as a proxyDHCP server, # enabling LTSP clients to boot when an external, unmodifiable DHCP # server is present. # The main dnsmasq configuration is in /etc/dnsmasq.conf; # the contents of this script are added to the main configuration. # You may modify the file to suit your needs. # Don't function as a DNS server: port=0 # Log lots of extra information about DHCP transactions. log-dhcp # Dnsmasq can also function as a TFTP server. RE: Managing Windows 10 IE/Chrome Bookmarks, Desktop Icons etc using Fog Client
@george1421 I should’ve elaborate more.
I have 20 stand alone computers and not managed by a domain.
I want to ensure all these computers have up to date Internet Browser bookmarks without having to update the reference image and redeploy. I often get asked by the centre admin to add new website link to the bookmarks in google chrome.Maybe by snapins to execute powershell or vbs script to create an icon that is essentially a link to website address.
Hope that make sense

Thanks!

RE: 1 Master Server + 1 Storage Node + DNSmasq + 2 Different location
Yes proxymode,
I pretty much followed this guide to get my fog up and running

RE: 1 Master Server + 1 Storage Node + DNSmasq + 2 Different location
How do you specify the dhcp-range? lets say I want to cover all in 10.40.xxx.xxx range?
is this correct?
dhcp-range=10.40.1.10, proxy, 255.0.0.0

RE: 1 Master Server + 1 Storage Node + DNSmasq + 2 Different location
These are pretty complex and way above my skillset i think. I might leave the 2 major locations separate with their own independent server.
Im not too sure either our network setup here as I dont have access to it.@Sebastian-Roth I might try adding the dhcp range to my ltsp.conf and see what happens.
Thanks

1 Master Server + 1 Storage Node + DNSmasq + 2 Different location
Hi all
I have 2 sites with different subnets and the current fog server setup on these two locations are independent (both master) both running RC-8 in Ubuntu 14. DNSmasq installed on each of them (since I dont have access to modify the switches)
How do you configure DNSmasq to serve these two locations? For example SITE A has 10.3.XXX.XXX and SITE B has 10.40.XXX.XXX. Is it possible?
Thanks

RE: Foreground Snapins
I know this is an old thread, but i am trying to achieve the same as @JJ-Fullmer. Automating post install of reboot restore rx using the snap in.
My environment is Fog 1.3.0. RC8 with smartinstaller. So this is not possible?
