pluneau, have you tried upgrading the kernel on FOG to 3.2.4?

RE: Windows 7 Deployment FOG- SAD2 Driver tool
Great guide Andy. I’ve found this site as well that could help with creating the unattend.xml file. Might work for some, and def save some headaches http://www.bauer-power.net/2011/02/how-to-sysprep-windows-7-on-easy.html

RE: Udp-Sender: half-duplex?
Ah, never noticed that :), but who knows, this might be changed in version .33. However, the changes in the new version aren’t very well known. EXT4 support, Developer Tools etc, so time will tell if it changes

RE: Udp-Sender: half-duplex?
How are you able to tell that it’s running at half-duplex?

RE: Boot Menu
So the real question being, what is the default block size of TFTP that FOG uses, and is there a way to increase it?

RE: FOG 0.33 - What's coming?
I dont see any issues with Windows 7 64 bit. I have been using it since Jan 2010 with Fog .30 and now .32. I work with over 300 Windows 7 64 bit computers and I have never used sysprep. I dont have any issues with kms either I just make sure my image doesnt join the domain until after deployment.
So I have to ask, if you’ve never used sysprep, how do you image the computers with a standard image (software/updates etc) without the image having the same name for everything?

RE: Fog Fails to Connect to Database
Did you add a password to the SQL portion of the install when you installed FOG? Or did you leave it blank?
-
RE: Boot Menu
I’ve noticed that when I boot an ISO off of FOG it only goes at 4 MB/sec to load the ISO. I know that the hardware is not the issue. Gbe to all computers (10Gbe to the switches), 15k speed drives in the servers running on a 10 core CPU (20 with hyper-threading).

RE: FOG possible causing network to go down
Wireshark is a pretty standard tool to monitor network traffic (to the point where it can be difficult to figure out everything that is going on) But, if you can port mirror your switch it would be real easy to figure out what FOG is doing on the network. But for a simple test, start a multicast session and monitor a random port on the switch and see if the same data is going to that port if it shouldn’t be. That would be a good place to start.

RE: Clam AV Scans Not Working
Is your FOG box physically connected to the internet? At that screen, it’s trying to go out and download the latest database of ClamAV prior to running. If your box is connected to the internet, is there a firewall blocking the traffic?

RE: Upgrading from version 0.29 to new 0.33 once if becomes available.
I would say try to upgrade to .32 prior to .33. There might be a good amount of changes in the .33 code which could cause complications. However, I have my personal FOG server at home, .32, ready to be upgraded. And I have our backup FOG server at work, .32, ready to be upgraded to .33. So once that update comes out, i’ll be testing away.

RE: Apache2 error then reinstallning FOG
Did you install all the updates prior to installing FOG? I know that Ubuntu switched from dhcp3 to isc-dhcp or something like that (sorry, been a long day). I’m only suggesting this because I saw that you had an isc-dhcp fail as well. If you have done all the updates, then back to the drawing board on my idea

RE: Need help
If you are new to FOG, I would recommend that you set it up that that it sends out the DHCP request (The default value) This is a good way to get your feet wet with FOG. Once comfortable you can always setup a new server once you are comfortable with the test server and actually point it to your real DHCP server. If you install FOG on VMware player/workstation make sure that in your NIC settings that you have it set as Bridged and not NAT. Bridged will allow your server to pull a real IP from your network where NAT will hand out a “fake” IP based on your network.
If you are new to FOG, I strongly recommend using all default values when installing FOG on a test server, especially when MySQL is installing. If you put in a password at this point you’ll need to configure other files to match your password. Leaving everything blank will create an encrypted password that will automatically add itself to the correct files.

RE: HP Elite 8200
did you run the fogprep file? Windows 7 is very picky about the hard drive the PC was imaged on compared to what drive is imaged.
-
RE: FOG possible causing network to go down
Are you on a VPN? I’ve found that imaging through a VPN will suck the bandwidth dry. Also are you using a gig switch or 100meg? Is the switch faulty? Do you notice any weird speeds on the PC that you are imaging when you image it?

RE: Clonezilla image compatibility
Put clonezilla on a USB drive, and then make an image from your sysprepped image on FOG and store everything on the USB drive Though, once FOG switches to Partclone, this should be easier.

RE: Backing Up FOG?
I made this patch specifically for Ubuntu users to backup all files that FOG needs to run. You still need to install FOG first, but then you can move the files back after you install FOG. I was working on a restore file but have been side tracked with work.
