Ubuntu 14 php session purging
In the wiki under https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Fog_Tweaks is a section dealing with PHP Session Purging. When I checked my /etc/cron.d/php5 the line that was recomended for editing didn’t match what I expected instead of “09,39 * * * * root [ -x /usr/lib/php5/maxlifetime ] && [ -d /var/lib/php5 ] && find /var/lib/php5/ -depth -mindepth 1 -maxdepth 1 -type f -cmin +$(/usr/lib/php5/maxlifetime) ! -execdir fuser -s {} 2>/dev/null ; -delete” I have “09,39 * * * * root [ -x /usr/lib/php5/sessionclean ] && /usr/lib/php5/sessionclean” is there a change in how this is handled in ubuntu 14 I am running SVN 4602.

RE: fog unable to register host for the following reasons
I have seen this at the campus level but switching ports or cable fixed it and I chalked it up to a bad cable but when it happened today I tested the cable every way I can think of and find no issues with it.
-
RE: fog unable to register host for the following reasons
Ok traced it to a switch or cable issue something about fog won’t successfully image on a port that for all appearances is fine network boot works but when it reinitializes the connection to image it fails is the best guess but even a fluke netscanner cant find any issues with the connection.

RE: fog unable to register host for the following reasons
It registers but does not image as described in the first post.
-
RE: Custom registration in newest Fog?
if you are running svn it is now handled thru the web interface
-
RE: fog unable to register host for the following reasons
HP prodesk 400 G1 MT with a realtek PCIe GBE NIC identical PC’s register fine it seems to be an issue with this one only.

RE: fog unable to register host for the following reasons
Tried that first time it happened it was at a school campus we have since brought it back to my office for trouble shooting.

fog unable to register host for the following reasons
Ubuntu 14.04.2 SVN 3728
When I try to register one particular PC I get the error “fog unable to register host for the following reasons” but the reason is blank. I have checked the sql database directly and find no records under the computer name not the mac address and if I enter the record manually and send an image the it seems to work up to where it attempting to send inventory then destination os then the screen goes black and i just have a blinking cursor at the bottom. -
RE: Tips to new FOG server
Almost any modern CPU and 4 gigs of RAM will handle your load maybe a terabyte of drive space in a raid setup for redundancy and the fastest NIC supported by the OS you choose and your network you can go 2 or 4 if you want to try teaming your NIC’s but this would be overkill for your needs I think.
-
RE: Tips to new FOG server
It really depends on usage. How many clients, how many images, how large are your images, compression level, number of images sent at a time?
-
RE: SMART Checking
While it doesn’t find all issues it is quick to check and will reduce issues with imaging a bad drive, I certainly haven’t see any false drive failure messages.
-
RE: Not displaying images
You can recreate each image manually thru the web interface or you can import you mysql database for the same info and it would restore your hosts and images.
-
RE: FOG issues with automatically joining computers to the domain
Would need the host fog.log for sure
-
RE: No operating system error message after wiping HD and trying to image
What OS is your fog server running on? You can also try the script in this thread https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/4581/let-s-make-scripts
