      So the fix here was to re-boot the PC. That seemed to resolve things.

      I had a few extra printers installed on the Group that I needed to remove. So what I do is set the Group to “Only Assigned Printers”. Than remove ALL printers associated with the Group. Wait 5 minutes. Re-add the printers to the group and let Fog update things. In the past this has worked perfectly. In fact some of the hosts in the Group were just fine and didn’t give the error. I even went as far as re-installing the FOG client and it still gave me the error.

      Server OS: Debian 9.9
      FOG Ver: GIT 1.5.0-RC-9

      Hi all,

      I am working to update my FOG server to the latest bleeding edge release of FOG. I am going from 1.5.0-RC-9 to current GIT version. I ran the standard commands to update via GIT repository. When I run the installer to update, I get the message saying:

      * Stopping web service........................................Failed!

      I tried shutting down web service (Apache) and re-running the installer, and I still received the same message.

      Any ideas? Thanks!

      Hi!

      Well, I decided it was time to update my FOG server. I ran through the normal processes of updating via GIT and am now stuck…

      The log file in the install directory is empty…

      We ultimately ended up a virtual server hosting our kms server. We use this for both MS Office and Windows 7. Use Windows Server 2012 or newer, it’s much easier to set up.

    • RE: Installing Custom Print Drivers FOG

      @wayne-workman

      SO… An update to this…

      I followed this Technet article and successfully signed my own driver file!

      https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd919238(v=ws.10).aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396#bkmk_signstep2

      It was quite the process. I’m not an MCSE and prefer my feet in the Linux world. MS makes things so difficult to get done. I ended up having to download the SDK and WDK in order to get this done.

      This worked! After I set up the certificate on my local machine and allowed FOG to use the self signed drivers, it installed fine.

      SO… Their’s hope that I can get this done using GPO with the article below!

      https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd919238(v=ws.10).aspx

      If you do this, you have to download the SDK package for your version of Windows Server… Why they can’t just package all of these things in Windows Server is beyond me!

      Ugh! MS… Can’t live with them… Can’t live without them!

      Thank you again!!!

      Cheers!

    • RE: Installing Custom Print Drivers FOG

      @wayne-workman

      I’ll try that. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this with FOG. I had a demo Toshiba copier that I had issues installing their custom driver from. I get a UAC prompt warning the driver isn’t signed. The funny thing is that in FOG it appears everything installs fine.

      I tried disabling the UAC for drivers in GPO but that did not work either.

      Hopefully self signing will work!

      Thanks for all of the links!

      Cheers!

      I have created a new custom print driver to install for my new Canon printers / copiers… The driver will install fine with the FOG PrintManager Helper but it will give a UAC prompt due to the driver not being digitally signed from MS…

    • Group > Printer > Add And Remove

      I’d love to see the Group>Printer interface act like the Host>Printer interface. In other words, it would be great to have a way to see what printers are selected for the group. Right now, I end up taking the shotgun approach and remove all, than add back the ones I want on my hosts. I realize their probably isn’t a simple solution to this issue…

      Thanks!

      @Tom-Elliott

      I understand that. However, when you’re working on specific hosts, having to go back and check the info item adds an extra step. Don’t get me wrong, the info item has its place. Having the hostname available would be handy.

    • Display Host Name Throughout Host Management

      Add host name next to Host Management on all pages for Host.

      Not a huge deal but it would be handy. I noticed myself having to double check where I was, when I was sending images to hosts.

      My idea would be:

      “Host Management - HOSTNAME”

      or

      “Host Management”

      “Current Host: Hostname”

      You guys are awesome! Thanks!!!
