RE: Anyone have a 3.4 kernel to hand?
I don’t think you need a powerful server - I’m using an HP Microserver (AMD N36L processor) with 3Gb ram and 2 x 1Tb sata drives in software raid 1 so not exactly a Ferrari… It has no problems imaging 10 machines concurrently and I’ve not seen any memory leak issues. I’m on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and FOG 0.31 running the 3.4 kernel.
well, I can give you what happens to our server after a while of imageing, I have the syslog output.
here it is below.
note: I took the computername out of the log output.

RE: Anyone have a 3.4 kernel to hand?
I have never come across this myself, you may be best starting a new thread, maybe more people can chime in with help
well I can report that we rebuilt the server with Debian, and for a while it seemed to do just fine until it stalled out and we had like 8 computers to go. I think I will start a new thread.
I do want to know, what kind of hardware does your fog server have in it? could that be the problem? could we have a server with not enough power in it to do the job?
thanks -
RE: Anyone have a 3.4 kernel to hand?
If your having issues , try the 3.4.1 or roll back to a kernel that works with them machines.
well, the thing is, it works just fine, but the server gets slammed and we loose all contact with it, and the ram usage goes through the roof!
could the kernel have something to do with it?
the fog kernel I mean?
thank you again. -
RE: Anyone have a 3.4 kernel to hand?
What kernel? And are your Ubuntu machines fully updated?
yes and 3.4.0 the one that was posted earlier on this thread. is that bad? -
RE: Anyone have a 3.4 kernel to hand?
Are you refering to 3.4, 3.4.1?
What’s your set up? What PCs
well, we have a ubuntu 10.04 server. and we have a ubuntu 10.04 storage server with tftp and pxe abilities thanks to the guide on the fog wiki and I included dhcp in that so that we could get it to work on a different network.
we are using currently some optiplex 760 and 740 computers and are going to be upgrading to optiplex 790s here soon.

RE: Anyone have a 3.4 kernel to hand?
tbh i’m not quite sure lol, I know it has vmware ISCSI support and is just a maintenance release of astrouga’s 3.4 really
Linux kernel 3.4.1 includes mostly updated drivers, a few ARM, PowerPC, x86, and SPARC fixes, and other small improvements related to wireless networking and SELinux.
well, its probably not the right place to ask, but is there a reason when I deploy to a bunch of computers, it seems to have a memory leak and then seems to just loose network connectivity?
I hope you can help.
again, sorry if its the wrong thread for this stuff. -
core kernel 3.4.1
what are the changes?

RE: Fog_0.32 on Ubuntu 12.04
have you had any issues with memory, it seems like I have a memory leak! when we do a group task it goes from like 172 m of ram to like 3gb in a matter of minutes! whats wrong! then the task just drops and all connections to the server are lost. should I just backup fog and start fresh with ubuntu 10.04?
thanks -
RE: Deploying to a group, some computers stall others finnish
anyone able to help?

Dhcp server, storage node?
hello,
I have just followed the guide to have a separate storage node act as a tftp and pxe server as well as taking commands from the master server, and I wanted to have dhcp work as well from this server.
I edited the install fog.sh and the script file for ubuntu, and well it never configured the dhcp server, it installed it but did not configure it, is there a way I can manually configure it?
and could you please tell me where I need to edit for it to help me configure the dhcp for the other server we are hoping to set up for the other network?
thank you! -
Deploying to a group, some computers stall others finnish
hi,
well, we jst got done renaming some computers cause we moved them around and well, now, it seems like some of the computers freeze when deploying an image, and others don’t!
I will note what I noticed while searching the computer names in fog.
lets say you have a few computers named comp1 comp2 comp3 and comp4
when you search “comp1” you should only see “comp1” as the result correct?
well in our case, we see “comp1” and “comp2”
when we deploy to the computers comp1 and comp2 stall as well as 3 and 4. but waht I am wondering is why! if we unplug the network cable from 2 comp1 finishes
should we just remove the computers all together and just re register the afflicted computers?
thank you. -
Not labeled links on mobile page
hi all,
I am a user of fog that is hoping to use the mobile fog interface and have discovered a problem.
being blind i need to rely on alt tags and labels for links. the mobile site how ever does not have alt tags or labels on its links. is there a way i can correct this now by editing the html in my install or will I have to have it fifxed in a new release?
thanks -
Download image stops at preparing disk (Stage 2)
Trying to download a windows 7 image to a Dell Optiplex 760. Tasks hangs at “Preparing hard Disks (Stage 2)” and “Checking wirte caching status on HDD” was “Unknown status”. There is no activity with the hard drive at all. Updated kernel to 2.6.28 with FOG version 0.32.
Funny thing is…it works fine on the Optiplex 780.
