@x23piracy I do IT support for dealerships. The dealer has a tool that connects to the car. Network to PC. PC to usb. USB to tool. Tool to Car. The tool comes from the car maker and it is not widely used by this dealership because it needs a massively long USB cable from the PC to the car. During the testing, it must be connected to the internet as the website manages the device and the car. In the past we have lost internet and destroy the EMC. EMC has to be replace and cost 1000’s each. That is why we moved to laptops. The laptop setup is Laptop to Car. No internet is required. We update the laptops with all the newest stuff. Sense this guy is using this old tool to connect to the cars, I am guessing fog is picking up the mac address from the car. Maybe the tool, I am not 100% sure which. I do know when ever he using this tool I get a new mac address. What great about this tool is, he can plug it into the car. The website auto list what doc to use to fix the cars problems. The laptops only show what is wrong in complete detail.

@wayne-workman sure that sounds like a plan. Do you have a script already for this?

@wayne-workman I talk to the manager of this person today about what he does. I guess he using a very old tool and it needs the internet read the error codes. Everyone else is using laptops that we gave them. I guess all these macs I have is from the cars themselves. With this massive list of Mac address, does it hurt Fog to have a list of macs that is 50 plus long? To it is just lines in my database?

@wayne-workman Watching Fog is little hard to do. I have asked what he is doing but he tells me how he is doing his job. Is their a way to see what time these appear at? These guys write down everything they do per car they work on. I could use that to figure out what happen during the time the mac request appeared

@tom-elliott I check, that location has only 1 windows 10. It is in a different department. Company wide I only have 8 computers running windows 10. Only this site is having this as a problem. In the corp office I am using 10 and so is other people. We don’t see this problem. Some suggest that it could be a Bluetooth device. I think these computers have Bluetooth but I need to check. The person that is using this pc is not techy at all. He needs help with even the basic things. He calls us twice a week. He told me shutdown means to turn off the screen and turn it back on. For him to use Bluetooth would be far out their.

    • new fog server setup as a node

I have setup a centos 7 server for a node for one of my sites. I followed the doc and now the website locally and remote does not display. When I try to add it to the master server. It does not give me the drop down like the rest. What am I missing? Last time I did this it was easy! here is my httpd error log

Please note I put ********** for domain name

It is windows 7. If he plugs his cell phone and turns on hot spot. Will it pick up the mac from that? I think he might be plugging in a device that talks with Cars. I think these mac address are from the car themselves or the device that he is using. I did some google searching on the mac address that is in that list. I came up with nothing. The mac address appear to be computer created. I check all the mac address that system produce and found that 15 chars is used to make them all up.

@msaglioc99 I am guessing you are running 16. whatever but the command below. Turns off the firewall. With it off, try to deploy the image.

      sudo ufw disable

Check the server firewall settings. I remember running into this and the problem for me was Linux firewall settings.

3 weeks ago one pc I have started to get 3-5 mac address daily. He had massive pending new mac address in two weeks. none of them are same. I replace his computer thinking it was a pc problem. Two days after I replace it, now it is starting up again. I check what he has installed. It is the same software I put on it two days ago. He not a hacking and does not know computers. He types up his work orders on it.

    • RE: Image upload & deploy taking a long time

From my use of FOG for the short about of time. Few key important parts for making capturing image go faster and deploying. I know when I skip these steps, FOG will capture much more. Which takes longer.

Step one - Turn off hibernate mode and delete the file.
Step two - turn off swap file and delete the file
Step three - Delete all cache files
Step four - defrag the drive
Step five - turn on hibernate and swap
Step six - capture the image. I am running raid 10 with 10 gig network. Windows 10 fully updated and ready to work takes about 45 minutes. To deploy takes about 5 minutes. My image size is about 50 gb.

    • Snapins does not deploy

I have about 600 computers and I am using the snapins to update the programs and run scripts. Randomly the computers will stop pushing the snapins. It says checkin and queue if I used a group to deploy the updates. If I do one at a time, it will say all snapins checkin but never does anything else. I updated 550 of the 600 computers today. My work around is to delete the computer from fog and restart the computer. Redeploy the snapins. That does fix it but the problem with that work around is it takes HOURS to figure out which computers are broken. Fog is installed on centos 7 Fog 1.44 and all the newest updates are applied. It is a VM. The computers I am pushing to is windows 7 with the Aug updates applied.
