    • RE: Database Maintenance - Error 1142

@tom-elliott Thanks very much!! That fixed it!

I found the path to the password to that user from another post I’ll copy here in case someone else runs into this problem.

Find the database information in /var/www/html/fog/lib/fog/config.class.php - with FOG 1.5.9 the database user is called fogmaster instead of root that was used in earlier versions.

    • RE: Update Kernels - GUI says successful, but its not

@george1421 I’ve tried this update from a computer across a VPN, and I’ve also tried it directly from Firefox on the Ubuntu machine that fog runs on and still get the same result.

As for getting a specific error, I don’t get any error. It says “Transfer Succeeded” in green and below that “Your new FOG Kernel has been installed!”

    • Update Kernels - GUI says successful, but its not

I’m trying to update the kernels on my fog server and the GUI says they are successful but on the Fog Configuration > Home > Kernel Versions screen the versions installed still show 4.19.143.

I would like to get to 5.6.18 as the current kernels does not work with our latest computers purchased.

Fog Server Version: 1.5.9.49 (Newly Upgraded from 1.5.6)
OS: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Newly Upgraded from 14.04 LTS)

      Am I missing something?

      Thanks for any help!

    • RE: Attempting to register host, No viable MACs found

      I found it.

The setting was called “QUICKREG PENDING MAC FILTER”

I took the USB NIC MAC out of there and everything worked again.

    • Attempting to register host, No viable MACs found

      Surface Laptop - Gen1
      Microsoft Surface USB NIC

This is the 2nd surface laptop that I’ve tried to image. The first was quite a while ago. Seems like I remember reading somewhere (and completing) about globally disabling the MAC of a USB NIC to make imaging other laptops easier.

The image went perfect on the first laptop, but now when I try to start imaging these I get this “No viable MACs found”.

I know I could probably just buy another adapter but don’t want to have to waste money for nothing.

I’ve tried deleting the old host entry but the “No viable MACs found” error persists.

I’ve tried looking through the fog web to find the spot where, I think, I put in the MAC to disable but can’t find it anywhere.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    • Web Page Text Box Bigger

      I just upgraded to 1.5.4 from 1.4.3.

The Image Management > Image General > “Image Description” box is smaller than it used to be due to the new web site redesign. It requires you to scroll if you have more text than what fits in the 3-line box.

We use this box to store all the BIOS settings changes that we need for each computer model.

Is there anyway to make this box bigger? I would rather not have to scroll down to see the whole contents.

Thanks for all the help this forum provides!

@brian-hoehn Check the time on the imaged laptop and the fog server and make sure they match. I’ve had this problem before and it was very confusing until I changed the time or time zone inside the fog configuration web page.

@Brian-Hoehn Thanks for letting us know. We’ll surely fix the UUID issue as soon as Tom is back. I just don’t want to get into this without knowing what Tom was already doing. We’ll get this sorted!

Good to know that you got the licensing issue solved!

Just to let you know, we just got a batch of the t570 in as well and they do the same thing as the OP stated.

Image works fine, just have to clear out the task in fog.

Maybe its something with this particular model?

Thanks for all your help guys! I really appreciate it!

I went ahead and manually entered all my images info.

I copied down all the settings in the fog settings page in preparation to enter it all manually.

I sent one image successfully, just need to make sure hostname changer is working ok.

I will work more on it Monday. Thanks again for all your help!

    • RE: Migrate PM to VM 1.2.0

@george1421 I’ve restarted the server several times switching between the old and the new (same IP) so I don’t think that would be it.

I did open the sql file yesterday and saw things that referred to my old install. I am just confused on what it does export and what it does not.

Right now on my new install, after I import the database, I still get empty boxes in the Fog Configuration > Fog Settings > AD Defaults page.

Is database import/export supposed to copy these settings?

On a different note: Are you suggesting that I just need to record the images page from my old server and mimic these images in the new install? If I do this and the files are there then it should work I assume?

    • RE: Migrate PM to VM 1.2.0

@jmeyer What do you mean by remaking images on GUI? Doesn’t import/export take care of this? I’ve already got the images copied over from the old server to the new one, do you suggest deleting the images folder and starting over?

    • RE: Migrate PM to VM 1.2.0

@george1421 I did this again, it said the import was successful…still no images, no hosts, and no ad settings. It looks like import/exporting might not work?

What exactly does the import/export do?
