@tom-elliott Thank you so much. You were correct I did have a directory named the mac address of my capture vm. I was able to move the contents of that directory to the directory listed in the gui and then deploy that image to a new vm. All seems to be working correctly.

Did I do something out of sequence or something? Why would it create the directory with the mac address name instead of the unique name I listed in the directory? At any rate it’s working now and I truly appreciate your fast response. This support forum is one of the best I have personally interacted with. You guys are great.

I am trying to capture then deploy an image of Ubuntu 20.04. When I captured the image everything seemed to work correctly. But when I tried to deploy that image it fails with the message “Unable to locate image store” . I ssh-ed into the server and looked in the /images/Xibo_Linux folder where it’s supposed to be but that directory doesn’t exist. Do linux images go someplace else?

Should the directory be created when you create the image in the web gui or not until you capture the image? I ask because I whipped up a new install of FOG to test if my server was the issue and when I create the image is says it’s located at /images/Xibo_Linux but that directory doesn’t exist yet.

@sebastian-roth I appreciate the reply. I hadn’t thought of it like that and at the end of a long day my brain wasn’t totally kicked in. I apologize if I wasn’t specific enough, but it seems that you did in fact understand exactly what I was asking so maybe I was specific enough after all.

I wasn’t implying that FOG did anything wrong. In fact I was asking if I needed to make a change for things to work correctly. There was no need to be so emphatic when answering the question.

So for other peoples reference. If you create an image using either bios/uefi the machine you deploy it to must also support that option and have it enabled in the settings. For my situation most of my computers support both methods, but the newest purchases only support uefi. So I will need to create an image from a uefi booting machine and that should be able to be deployed to all other computers I have on the network, so long as they have the uefi option enabled in the computer settings.

I am trying to push an image that I made awhile back with legacy pxe boot. It installs fine when the computer is using legacy drivers, but it doesn’t work when the computer uses UEFI.

Do I need to create a new image for the UEFI booting machines or can I change a setting and use the image I have already?

Thank you everyone. I tried again and I was able to successfully register that computer. I did re-try adding the 32bit and 64bit Kernels via the web gui and when I run the above commands on the server I get a return showing the 5.10.12 kernel.

@george1421 Thank you for your reply. I have already done that. I wasn’t sure if that was what the Kernel Update via the web gui did, but I had a feeling.

I read your post in https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/15038/dell-optiplex-5080-network-interface-not-found/6 that mentioned checking the kernel version from the pxe’d computer. I’m not sure where/how to get to that cli. When I boot via pxe I get the FOG login screen, but if I try to deploy an image or register the host I get the Network drivers error.

I wondering if anyone can help me with updating/or adding network drivers for a Lenovo P340.

I have been using FOG here at my work for around 2 years. We have been using legacy bios pxe boot without issue. I have already setup the UEFI boot options, but we just never used it often. However, we just received several Lenovo P340 computers and while they will boot to the FOG login screen I get an error message about missing network drivers.

I was originally using a CentOS 7 server OS and updated that to the 5.11 kernel, but I was still getting the missing network drivers error. So I figured what the hell I’ll spin up a new vm with Ubuntu 20.04 and install FOG to see that fixes the issue. So I did that and even downloaded the newest version of the kernel so I’m running 5.11 on that as well. I then installed FOG rebooted my P340 and lo and behold I have the same issue.

I’m not sure where to go from here. I was following another thread that said to check the FOS kernel and make sure it was above 5.6 or something. But I’m not sure if that is the same thing as updating the server OS’s kernel. If not I’m not sure how to do that. I have also updated the kernel through the web GUI to use the newest available, but still no change.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I’m sure this issue will just keep popping up as time moves forward.
