• RE: NFS mount Permission denied

@Dark_Masta,
I could be wrong but I think the stuff you’re trying to do is only available with Fog version 0.33 (It’s still in testing though). You may want to fork the source out and try to modify it, to suit your needs. Hope this helps 🙂

Disclaimer: I could be wrong about the version and what is supported. Please read the manual.

• RE: Noob to FOG

Hope you don’t change your username from FoggyBrain to FoggedUpBrain :). I wish I could give you some positive feedback. But I want to get you speed with couple of things you should learn:

1. There is no activity on the Fog project for quiet sometime.
2. Fog has several issues.
3. Fog will not support some common file systems.
4. If you really wanted to learn you should have deployed those images yourself to start with instead of hiring someone to do the job for you.
5. Also “gais” is spelled “guys” - there are several places that will help you learn how to spell words. I would start with google or yahoo to search.

Hope I was helpful in your quest to learn with few tips. Cheers 🙂

P.S: If you feel if you’ve learned anything please click the like button for the reply to encourage me help others. Thanks.

• RE: Image upload issue

@Ethyr, if it matters at all. I do pity. But none of the stuff you’re attempting to do is supported by Fog. Please read through the forum and you will find out for sure :). Hope this helps.

• RE: Image upload issue
I have just started experimenting with FOG trying to determine if it’s worth to swith from Ghost Solution Suite to FOG.

Im using Dell Precious T1650 with the latest BIOS and Windows 7 to pull an image from to my ubuntu 10.4.4 server.
First I used 0.32 but was having problem with permissions, http://www.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Images_Directory_Permissions, and nothing did the trick.

3.8.8 kernel didn’t work either, got kernel panic. But 3.6.9 worked with that computer at least.

After I pulled all the latest files from sourceforge the permissions problem seems to have gone away but then the next issue came up. After creating a task for my computer with an image and so fourth i try to boot my machine. Booting up from PXE works wonders, then it checks the operating system, CPU cores, file system etc. Last of all it check the Hard Disks and says Done för everything up until now.
Next line is:

[ 7.55170] Restarting system.

And FOG WebUI says the task is done. It seems FOG can’t locate my files properly. Do I need to run FOGPrep for it to be able to copy the files from my drive?

I was able to make it work once so it started copying and i thought i was good to go. But something must have happend because the next thing i know it had booted up to windows and copied ~200mb to my server.
Why do you want to change?? You must be crazy. Fog has lot of issues. If you’re bored and want to spend time exploring something new, watch a movie or learn to play a new game etc, 🙂

• Is Fog Project dead after version 0.32?? Should current fog users be concerned??
1. There are no activities that’s happening lately.
2. I did notice some activity by user microleaks on SVN on updating kernel config something - but not a whole lot.
3. Hopefully this is not one of the cases like mysql.
4. Pardon my ignorance, but what happens to all users who actively contributed and tested for projects that are open source and then you find out that is no longer the case. (like mysql) - this whole thing is confusing at best.
3. Hopefully that is not the case with Fog.

Try chown -R fog:root on that folder

• RE: With Fog 0.32 - What is used to backup ext4 filesystems

There’s more to this. So I decided:

1. Forget about ext4 support, let me use the RAW disk option.

2. so the image gets created however I’m not able to mount the image using
mount -t ext4 -o loop mymyage… mymountpoint…

3. However if I manually try to create a disk image using dd and try to mount the image it works fine.

4. So the assumption here is the image created by fog is compressed - except not sure what format…Any help folks?

I’m an Idiot. I think after going through the forms now I understand . For some reason I assumed in version 0.32 Fog is able to image ext4. However it is only supported from 0.33 (which is still not out yet?)

• With Fog 0.32 - What is used to backup ext4 filesystems
1. I was reading in another thread that fog was using partimage until 0.32 so it did not support ext4 filesystem.

2. This was the first time I tried to upload an image using multi-part, multi-disk option.

3. I have the following 4 disks(used space only) - 7G, 25G, 25G,13G (so total of 70G)

4. Fog created the following:
d1.mbr
d1p1.img (921 bytes)
d2.mbr
d2p1.img (14G)
d3.mbr
d4.mbr

5. I’m bit confused to why the image sizes are off…

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
