@Sebastian-Roth , while using 1.5.4 all worked perfectly fine. I updated to 1.5.6 recently but did not need to use it. Logged into to use it yesterday and 1.5.7 popped up so I updated and now it’s not working.

You helped me the other week getting FOG upgraded to 1.5.6 from 1.5.4 I had to change some settings in relation to MariaDB-client and server for the upgrade to progress.
Since then I haven’t needed to use FOG until today where I noticed the 1.5.7 update so I ran it and now seeing the issue…

In the past it has always worked fine for me. I would either add the client to FOG via the web interface or the FOG PXE menu.
Capture image, check compatibility etc all worked. Instead now I get a black screen with a blinking cursor.

I recently updated FOG to 1.5.7 and seem to have hit a snag.
FOG: 1.5.7
OS: Centos 7
When trying to do anything from the FOG menu after PXE booting I get a black screen with blinking cursor.
The PC’s are a mixture of Desktop and Laptop machines, all with Safe Mode turned off and UEFI/Legacy mode turned on with trying legacy first on boot.
Any help would be great.

I can actively connect to it via msql -u -p so it is running, it’s where I pulled the version info from.
The other error logs don’t look to have anything extra in them.
Have I gone too far in terms of Maria DB versions? Should I aim to remove the MariaDB repo and rely solely on the CentOS versioning?
It’s running on Cent OS 7: CentOS Linux release 7.6.1810 (Core), I’ve been running FOG 1.5.4 almost a year now with MariaDB running, MariaDB has been updated multiple times.
I actually just updated MariaDB today as I thought it would solve this issue.
I tried updating FOG before the MariaDB update today and after, both gave me the above print outs.

@george1421 Fantastic!!! I got Mint running and booting live over the network. Thank you so much for the info.
For everyone’s use I created:
/images/os/mint where I used 7z to extract the entirety of the mint.iso
/tftpboot/mint where I placed the vimlinuz and initrd.lz from the casper folder in the previously mentioned extracted iso.
My menu item in PXE is now this:

initrd tftp://${fog-ip}/mint/initrd.lz

I’ve managed to get the installer portion running using a plethora of info out there but what really worked for me is this:
Downloaded vmlinuz and initrd.gz from the netboot version of Ubuntu and placed them into the tftp root folder:
Created a folder in /images/os called ubuntu and used 7z to extract Ubuntu 18.04 iso into this folder.
My menu entry now looks like this:
kernel tftp://${fog-ip}/ubuntu/vmlinuz
initrd tftp://${fog-ip}/ubuntu/initrd.gz
imgargs vmlinuz initrd=initrd.gz root=/dev/nfs boot=casper netboot=nfs nfsroot=${fog-ip}:/images/os/ubuntu splash ip=dhcp rw
boot
It now boots on any machine into an Ubuntu Installer BUT!
This is great but not my final wish.
Is there a way to avoid the straight to install process and at least load a Live CD so that I could use Ubuntu to say scan the PC’s drive with clamav?
Any help would be great!
